The Philadelphia Conference is a grassroots, all-volunteer, non-profit organization, founded in May 2003, dedicated to the promotion and advancement of photojournalism. We meet in Philadelphia but invite participation from around the nation and the globe.
We have hundreds of members online and have hosted dozens of popular local events.
Our membership is predominantly regional and includes staff photographers, photo editors and directors from every major Philadelphia daily newspaper, as well as wire service and weekly photographers and editors. Smaller communities are represented from throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, as well as a few national magazine photographers, and individual members from as far as Russia and China.
Early accomplishments included the facilitation of a $5,000 photojournalism scholarship, an online gallery of featured members and guests, and the development of annual and monthly digital competitions for members.
Next, we're finally getting a little more 2.0 with this new group blog. Stay tuned for more information about participation soon.
