We're proud to announce broad support of the Posterous API for image posting through the most awesome twitter clients out there. In addition to posting, many of these clients have added inline viewing of Posterous photos and media, and even voice upload (Pichirp) via iPhone!

To enable Posterous as your image host, you'll need to go into the settings for the twitter client and set Posterous as your image posting service.

Is your favorite client not here?
Posterous now supports a rich API that is also 100% compatible with TwitPic. We've added extensions that let you post music, video and files of any kind (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) so you can do even more with Posterous than any other hosting service / blog platform. Send feedback to your favorite clients telling them about our API, and let us know too.

It's been an exciting week here at Posterous and we're keeping things going by announcing a slate of new Autopost sites for photos, videos, status updates, and more:

Photos and Videos:
 - Picasa
 - YouTube
 - Vimeo

Picasa photos will be saved in your "Posterous Photos" album. Any videos you attach will be automatically uploaded to your YouTube and Vimeo for processing.

Microblogging Sites:
 - Identi.ca
 - Jaiku
 - Plurk

Keeps your status updated automatically with the title of your post and a short URL link.

Bookmarks:
 - FriendFeed
 - Delicious

Automatically keep your friends updated on FriendFeed with your new posts and photos. On Delicious, each new post will be added to your bookmarks along with any tags you've made.

These new autopost sites make it super easy to share the photos and videos you take from your phone or camera with your friends, taking the hassle out of uploading to each site you're on. This isn't the last of the autopost sites either -- we're going to continue adding sites, so if there's a site you want please send us an email at help@posterous.com

PS - I'm Vince, the newest member of the Posterous team along with Brett. I helped develop some of the features you've already seen like the Facebook app and Twitter comments and I'm psyched to keep developing some more as a new addition to the team!

The image above is one of the most important graphics I have ever seen. In fact I stare at it every day on my desktop to remind me that a) there will always be shifts in media and b) one format never supersedes another.

The blog is at a critical stage in its evolution. Blogs are out of beta. Blogs are the new normal. Everything is a blog. So what's next? Well, the format will indeed evolve into something new. I believe it will be the stream. Yet lots of folks this week are defending the blog like it's sacrosanct and untouchable.

Blogs are out of beta but bloggers, as pioneers, should always in beta seeking to grow and advance our beloved format, rather than be complacent. I am surprised that more of us aren't asking what's next for the almighty blog - and I am interested in your thoughts on this subject.
