My kids have gone to great lengths in order to take Mommy and Daddy out of the equation so they can eat all of the leftover Halloween candy. Yesterday, N, took advantage of my sleepiness. Today, X used his ninja skills to pilfer some sweets.
While KayEm was working on her computer, X stealthily positioned himself by the counter where the bucket of candy sat. He was careful not to make a sound as he gently removed it from the counter. The little ninja displayed great strength and agility because the bucket was heavy and cumbersome. However, he managed to maneuver out of the kitchen without KayEm's noticing.
When KayEm finally realized that X was being too quiet, it was too late. He had already shoved a lollipop into his mouth and was making plans to get another. She was about to take the candy from him (by the way, taking candy from a baby is not easy) before she realized how difficult a task he had just accomplished. Rather than being upset, she was impressed.
The Candy Ninja had prevailed.
To all of you who spent the past month fasting from sun up to sun down.
To all of you who held your tongue when you wanted to lash out.
To all of you who cleared your mind of impure thoughts and emotion.
To all of you who prayed five times a day and all through the night.
To all of you who are better for this past month.
I wish you Eid Mubarak.
