Samuel Barclay Beckett (13 April 1906 – 22 December 1989) was an Irish writer, dramatist and poet. Beckett's work offers a bleak outlook on human culture and both formally and philosophically became increasingly minimalist.
... He is also considered one of the key writers in what Martin Esslin called "Theatre of the Absurd." As such, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers of the 20th century.
... After World War II, Beckett turned definitively to the French language as a vehicle.
... He, more than anyone else, opened up the possibility of drama and fiction that dispense with conventional plot and the unities of place and time in order to focus on essential components of the human condition.
... towards compactness that has led to his work sometimes being described as minimalist.

Jfayel personal point of view...
Samuel Beckett is maybe with Pessoa and Borges one of the 3 top writers of the XX century.
All of them wrote in multiple languages, which is yet difficult as normal people but seems almost impossible to reach as true writers. Wellknown as an "absurd" advocate, the most interesting for me is Beckett's work on the language itself. It is a way to point up that language is not build from exact words, but from constellations of grouped words which meaning lies in the constellation itself not in each separated words. So linking Samuel Beckett with Boby Lapointe seems obvious... >>> more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boby_Lapointe

The Web is not yet intelligent... But more intelligence comes to people visiting the web with opencalais and thinkmap.
>>> Look at this mashup application of wikipedia, called THINKpedia... yes called "think"... http://thinkpedia.cs.auckland.ac.nz/

So yes... semantic + animated visualisation could be very efficient.
- Note that the grey nodes are pure added value from opencalais analysis.
- Note that nothing as been added to the wikipedia database, opencalais works without any specific added markup.
- Note the graph visualisation from thinkmap is great added value:
... The whole is at your only one glance,
... Clickable refocus
It is pity that Thinkmap license costs around 5000$ and that Opencalais has not a web service with embedable copy to paste. But, if not them, others will do it... soon...

Wikis are an exceptionally useful tool for getting students more involved in curriculum. They’re often appealing and fun for students to use, while at the same time ideal for encouraging participation, collaboration, and interaction.

* Do you believe that global warming is true, i.e. ...
: which variables are identified as defining the global climate?
: is it scientifically predictable?
: is it not a chaotic phenomenon, i.e. not predictable?
: what is the sensible period of time to deal with: ... decades,
centuries, millenniums, ... more, much more...
: what series of data are available? are they compatible with the
climate periodicity?
: ask Fortune for instance to publish archives of its 1970's topics
warning of a "global cooling"...
: is climate change not an easy way to make people be afraid of
something well upon their easy reach?
: is there not humility to admit humanity still do not know how climate works?
: is there not humility to admit humanity is so little a force not to
be able to change it, in bad or in good?

In the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence there is a room called the Stanza del Guardaroba, a hall full of geographical maps. There are 53 maps painted on the cabinets in the 16th century and to my surprise on the map of France you can clearly mark out the town of "Arcaxon" in Guyenne (notice also Dax, Souillac and a few others...). Arcachon is the town in the South West of France were I have spent most of my childhood's summers: it's pretty amazing to find it on a 16th century map in Tuscany.

Running through some photos from a long weekend in Tuscany and stumbled upon some clear evidence that the Romans too knew some crazy dance moves.  These sculptures from the Uffizi gallery would definitely support this theory:
  1. Some very early work on the robot moves.
  2. You better stop in the name of love.
  3. Evidently spelling the C out of the YMCA.
  4. Simply staying alive.
  5. Jump Around: she is getting ready to jump up, jump up and get down.

These incredible images of waves were taken by the number 1 photographer of surf: Clark Little.  He has dedicated his life to photographing the waves and has published a selection of the the best images of his career.  He captures magical moments inside the "tube", as surfers say.

* La crise actuelle est

... Mais à problème semblable, même solution...

The Pirate Bay guys were criminally prosecuted for....violating (largely obsolete) copyright. Almost no one in finance has been held even civilly liable for vastly more economically damaging actions.

On the one hand, we have damages worth maybe (maybe) a few million. On the other, a few trillion.
