He has written on music and culture for, amongst others, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Face, The Irish Independent and Manchester Evening News. Until recently he was executive editor of the regional and Scottish arts sections for Metro newspaper. Prior to that he was editor of the Manchester magazine City Life.
