I've been working in digital now for over 14 years, but cut my teeth as a graphic designer after graduating in 1991 from Huddersfield Poly.
I set my first design agency up in 1995 and called it Reactive. Dad always said it should have been called proactive, but he's an accountant and knows nothing of client deadlines at 5.30 on a Friday afternoon!
I sold Reactive to Flg21, a digital agency, in 1997 and we worked with some great clients including Dunlop Slazenger, Ferrari, Hasbro and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
I was also privileged to be one of the original Freeserve (sold to Wanadoo and now Orange) team members back in 1999 developing strategies across emerging technologies like streaming media, mobile and interactive TV channels. One of my first challenges was to deliver streaming media coverage from the Big Brother house across the UK network where Nasty Nick (for those of you who remember) famously lied to a live audience of millions!
These days....Well, I've recently taken up the post of MD at Ripe Design in Leeds.
