Hey, thanks for coming. Would you mind signing in?

Island Aid was founded immediately following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Upon realizing the extent of the disaster, and with the support of the British Embassy and other donors, we chartered an 800 ton ship and loaded it with aid in Jakarta and Padang.

We were first to reach Patek & Pulau Raya on the remote west coast of Aceh. Traumatized communities were still hiding on hill tops.

In this important first mission, IA hosted over 240 volunteers and staff from various NGOs and delivered over 650 tons of medical and material resources supporting isolated communities in Aceh and Nias.

Using our innovative sea based approach of delivery, we were able to reach beneficiaries that were inaccessible to organizations using conventional methods.

Since 2005 Island Aid has been operating in Indonesia focusing on disaster response and general development initiatives exclusively in isolated communities which receive little or no help from other organizations. We have worked in partnership with many organizations including OBI (Obar Bekat), Troppodoc, Kirekat, CARE, UN WFP, Aus Aid and many others to deliver aid to areas that are particularly difficult to access.

Despite our relatively small size we are able to make use of our extensive local knowledge and networks to deliver appropriate aid and resources where and when they are needed.
