Okay, so the world is broken and you've been given the gift of a corporate lay-off. Looking for a new job or starting an entrepreneurial venture seem like endeavors that the current economy is not likely to embrace, So, what to do? If, like me, you've been looking for a change of routine then the answer is get out there and Live (yes, with an upper-case "L") a bit and see what aspects of life you've forgotten about or not yet discovered.
In my case, it has started with a two-month trip to Argentina and an increasingly likely extension to visit Ecuador (Cuenca and the Bahia de Cadaques area) and Peru (yes, Macchu Picchu, of course). Also on the more distant radar screen are Panama and the "Costa Maya" of Mexico, just north of Costa Rica. (Look-up Lago Bacalar in Google.)
Why "El Desaparecido?" Well, that will have to be the subject of an entry. For now I'll just say that it stems from the bizarrely secretive way in which 16% of my colleagues and I were laid-off by our corporate behemoth employer.
