Singapore Zoo, 24 Nov 2009

Today we went to Singapore zoo. It's has over 2,500 specimens from 315 species, 16% of which are threatened. It's worth a look.

Halloween Zoo trip with James / Waterfall video

There's just nothing else like family.

Today James, Becky & I went to the San Diego Zoo. It was a lot of fun. Lots of people were dressed up in their Halloween costumes. It wasn't too busy and we didn't stay too long. A perfect afternoon on a perfect day with my loving family. I'm the luckiest guy in San Diego!

ZooBooo at the Maryland Zoo

The Junior Class Council volunteered and donated candy to the Maryland Zoo for their ZooBooo event on Saturday, Oct. 25th. While the weather was pretty dreadful, quite a few kids and their families came out to enjoy the fun and festivities. We also had a chance to wander around the zoo, which I haven't gotten to do in years. It was fun but my Favorite part was definitely seeing the penguins and their reaction to seeing one of the zoo people come into their area. They were positively "running" to see her and she didn't have a bucket of fish or anything. I loved watching her pet and talk to the penguins... it wasn't a wonder that they were so happy to see her. While seeing animals in cages is not the best thing for the animals, it does help remind people of the importance of taking care of our planet for all living creatures and for future generations!

您知道動物園裡的動物誰最衰嗎？答案是鱷魚，動物園的獸醫說，很多小朋友喜歡丟擲食物去餵食小動物，像是猴子、猩猩還有大象都排名前三名，但是最常被遊客丟擲東西的動物是鱷魚，還排第一，不過民眾不是丟食物給牠吃，而是朝牠丟石頭或是銅板，因為鱷魚常常躺在池子裡一動也不動，讓人懷疑是不是死了，乾脆拿石頭丟牠，要是牠一張開嘴，大大的血盆大口又被當作許願池丟銅板，看在管理員眼中都免不了搖頭說還真衰。
小朋友探頭探腦，尋找鱷魚蹤跡，鱷魚老兄躺在池子裡，一動也不動。小朋友：「鱷魚在哪裡啊？」民眾：「在水裡啊。」
一張張血淋淋的照片，頭上破了一個大洞，就是被地上的瓶子給砸的，鱷魚一張嘴，血盆大口也被當作許願池丟銅板。
動物園獸醫李安興：「一動也不動，鱷魚到底是死的還是活的，就會拿石頭去丟他，有時候也拿銅板去砸它，因為鱷魚養的地方，通常有水池，他們會把鱷魚的水池當做許願池。」
鱷魚堪稱動物園最衰動物，被遊客丟東西還不是給吃的，排名第二的猴子、猩猩，常被丟擲食物餵食，第三名是大象。記者：「你知道大象吃什麼嗎？」小朋友：「不知道。」
小朋友不知道大象吃啥，但是絕對不是您手上的零嘴、糖果、餅乾，小動物們吃下肚，恐怕會造成肝衰竭，欄杆邊上「禁止餵食」的告示牌，可不是放著好玩。
等了半天，鱷魚老兄還是不願意探出頭，萬一再有遊客拿錢丟牠，恐怕牠永遠都不會想再探出頭來，跟你打招呼了。
