Four weeks ago these two Cops payed a visit to ask me questions about my invovment with resistance to the 2010 Olympics.  They questioned me on my involvment with the Native Youth Movement, the Warriors Societies, and any other activist groups.  In the beginning of the conversation, they gave me a braid of sweetgrass as some kind of cultural gesture… I would assume? (Wrong culture there guys!)

I should of asked them, “What do I do with this?”

The one question they persistently hounded was, “If you knew of any persons who would get hurt because of activist activity, would you help us and inform us to prevent anyone from getting hurt?”  I never answered the question, although later I realized I should of responded with my own backhanded comment of “What if I see persons getting hurt because of cop activity, do I help and inform you to prevent these people from getting hurt?”  They also asked questions around my intentions, how I feel about the Four Host First Nations, and the 2010 Olympics in general.

I made a comment that, “The Band Counils who participat in the Four Host First Nations are only colonial-puppet government that owe it’s responsability and loyalties to the Indian Act, and not our own people.  I see those governments as illegitimate and imposed.  They are colonization”.  They responded with trying to explain to me how “The Indian Act is a good thing” because it “gives natives in Canada their Indian Status” and without the Indian Act “Natives wouldn’t be Indian.”

Ignorant and racist logic.  Nothing new for me.

I will state that my intentions and activity during the 2010 Winter Olympics are not even known to me at this point.  The Olympics should never have been supported by my community, and future generations will have to fix the damage it has caused.  It’s supported and endorsed the corruption and farce of the Squamish Nation, and has only allowed a few to prosper and benefit from it.  It will leave little legacy for future generations, except rising housing costs, more population and Urban sprawl, expansion and development of more of our territory, and the prostitution and exploitation of our culture and community.  I wait for it to come and ago because in the aftermath, the relationship between Indigenous peoples and Settler government will not have changed, the situation with Indigenous peoples in Canda will still be severe, and it will have made a few Indians into wealthy capitalists, furthering the consistent agenda of colonization and assimilation.

Yesterday's graphic recording for Deutsche Bank and FAZ was all about suits and seriousness (and I do have it in me to find that immensely interesting), today it is facilitation for a great bunch of young people from all across Europe. These pictures are from this morning's opening session. KaosPilots will probably recognize it - it's a fun exercise to kick-off a group meeting and introduce each other. Great job the team did there!

Supersizing the European map was a bit of a "challenge": I didn't quite place Serbia and Romania correctly. Please forgive me, dear friends ;) But at least the participants had the opportunity to shape their own country. And all it took was a pencil. Revolution was never easier.

Dan greets hunters and offers a season outlook

MADISON – Television and radio host Dan Small of Outdoor Wisconsin and Outdoors Radio has teamed up with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to give hunters a heads-up on important deer season information and the latest season forecast as opening day approaches.

The opening greeting to hunters and the five regional forecasts are available for viewing on the DNR Web site.

“On the eve of Wisconsin’s 158th deer hunt I want to wish hunters, their families and friends my best wishes for a safe and enjoyable season,” said DNR Secretary Matt Frank. “The traditions and the meaning of the season are as varied as the individuals and families holding them. Deer season is something special in Wisconsin.”

The DNR information line 1-888-DNR INFo (936-7463) is staffed 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week for last minute questions. The 2009 Wisconsin Deer Hunting Regulations also are available online for hunters. Wildlife and law enforcement officials at the DNR encourage hunters to check the regulations for the unit they hunt to be sure they understand the rules and have the correct tags.

"Future technologies and services are extremely complicated, time consuming, and not always productive. We’re way too lazy to want organize these things ourselves. We’re glad you guys are taking the time to do it because it would take us a lot longer to get it done.

There’s so much to learn and explore.

We just want whatever’s going to get things done the quickest.

We don’t even mind if it’s dirty, as long as it’s done!"

A behavioural study into youth by The Participatory Marketing Network in October 2009, involving 200+ participants between the ages of 18 and 24, found that they are more reluctant to give up email (26%) than they are social networks (9%).

One explanation for this is that social networks come and go -- they are seen as transient, unlike email.

Here's some comments in response to this news:

"Despite what some of the headlines may say, email is definitely not dead. Social networking websites wouldn't exist without email. Can it in the future? Maybe. But for now-no."

"I don't understand how anyone could think that email was dead anyway. That is insane. Anyone who runs a business uses email despite having a plethora of social media accounts."

"You do realise that you get updates from ALL social networks via email? This makes email the most powerful tool of all. Plus it's less frequently blocked by work or school firewalls."

"Why email? The more personal, the more private, the more intimate -- simply the most related to people."
