"If your gaming experience seems a little underwhelming for want of little plastic Wii Motion Plus-compatible accessories, it looks like the gang over at Nitho has got your back. A quick trip over to the company's website reveals baseball bats, golf clubs, a revolver / nunchuck, charging docks, and more: all suitable for the make-believe Pete Rose, Arnold Palmer, or Chuck Norris in your life, and all in that boring white plastic that's become synonymous with the game system." ..more info at link

Nintendo invited us to spend some time with their upcoming Wii Sports Resort title, resembling their latest collection of mini games, bound to at least captivate casual gamer audiences.

It is Nintendo's flagship title for their new WiiMote add-on - the Wii MotionPlus. They are targeting a release, roughly a month from now, i.e. late July 2009.

Lately my wife and I are spending lots of time on the Wii Fit. Whoever had the bright idea of making competitive computer games that get you fit is a genius. Trying to get the bubble to the finish line without being stung by bees is incredibly addictive, as is trying to beat each other's high score on the table tilt marble game or the ski jump or the football heading game where you have to avoid spinning panda heads that look like footballs. Who thinks this stuff up?!

There are some incredibly ingenious and crazy fun games in there.. like the crazy penguin game where you wobble an iceberg to catch fish, or the Zen meditation game where you sit still and stare at a candle, trying to ignore distracting footsteps and moths. The rhythm boxing is a good laugh too, with a cockney geezer trainer shouting at you to try harder and fight the fat, and an automated punchbag robot you can knock out.

Possibly the most knackering of all though is doing 6 minutes straight on Super Hula Hoop - 3 minutes in each direction. Knackering but as you can see from the picture, I made it - and not too bad too.

All in all the Wii Fit certainly makes exercise a lot more fun & interesting. Hopefully the darn thing won't tell me I'm obese again at tomorrow's weigh in!

This post may come across as a bit... pathetic?

My upper right arm and shoulder are sore. Not the kind of soreness that the rest of my joints have been going through for the past few years. No, this is a different kind of sore... a vaguely familiar kind of sore. It's the good kind; the kind that one gets after physical activity. Yes, exercise.

But when did I exercise? Ah, yes. My evening of Wii Tennis!
I played 5 matches, each one best of 5.
No, not the most competitive of matches. Just having some fun.
And moving around.

(And now the pathetic part)
I felt really good about the form I had in my swing. It felt... well, good! I was moving like I was on an actual court, and each swing felt like I was making an actual racquet swing. It got me even more excited about the prospect of playing on a real court, with real racquets and real tennis balls, some day soon.

That is all. I'm sore from Wii Tennis.

It's Friday and I'll be heading home shortly to hook up our new Wii and play with Bailey into the wee hours of the night.
In the meantime, I'm still obsessing over this new album, and in particular, this track and wanted to share it.
Guess I'm just a sucker for distortion in folk music.

A game developers review: Lost Winds

Lost Winds

A very fresh Wii game with innovative control mechanics and great visuals. Too short for it’s price-tag however.

 8/10

Pros:

-Innovative physics based gameplay is a fresh take

-Physics based gameplay is surprisingly intuitive and fast to learn

-Addictive

-Cute characters

-Made me want to play the sequel as fast as possible

Cons:

-A bit too easy in most parts

-Level navigation is often not clear enough and the instructions are insufficient

-Visuals & story was VERY Zelda Windwaker / Phantom Hourglass esque

-Too short!
