"Volkswagen of America, Inc. is proud to announce the world premiere of the groundbreaking Up! Lite concept car at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. With its combination of a Volkswagen TDI® Clean Diesel engine, an advanced electric motor, and a seven-speed Direct Shift Gearbox® (DSG®), the Up! Lite is an innovative hybrid capable of a 0 to 60 mph run of 12 seconds, a top speed of 100 mph, and the exceptional fuel economy rating of 70 mpg.

The Up! Lite's superior efficiency is also a result of lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber elements throughout, and an aerodynamic exterior, which comes dressed in a truly unique Liquid Blue Metallic paint to match the car's fun and futuristic feel. The hatchback carries a low, lengthened profile that starts up front, continuing with a broad shoulder section, and a thoroughly clean profile. Side cameras stand in place of traditional outside mirrors, and 18-inch carbon fiber and aluminum wheels give a hint of sports car-like appeal. Inside, passengers are welcomed with an intuitive touchscreen and hand motion sensors for climate controls, Internet connectivity, telephone, multimedia playback, and more. Three cameras take over for the more common rearview mirror, and an easy folding rear seat promises extra storage space."

The Volkswagen Beetle is nowadays a secondary model in the Volkswagen range so it will be replaced by an all-new car in 2012.

During a German press event, CEO of Volkswagen America. Stefan Jacoby, said the Beetle will be "more of a halo car" with improved packaging and additional interior room.

But since the new Beetle came to market years ago there have been some remarkable ‘Retro’ successes – probably the biggest being the MINI and the Fiat 500. And VW want to emulate that with the next generation Beetle. Would they bring back the vintage version?

In 1974, when the first-generation VW Scirocco debuted, the world witnessed the end of the Nixon era and the dwindling of the hippie movement. Designed by Giugiaro, built by Karmann, and sold in the States between 1975 and 1981, the first Scirocco was an instant showroom success. In many ways, the Scirocco was an affordable sports car. The Scirocco was also practical; it could seat four comfortably, and carry plenty of luggage thanks to its hatchback.

In June 2006, VW officially announced production of a new Scirocco model. A concept car previewing the then upcoming Scirocco III, named Iroc. The Iroc was definitely not our fathers' Scirocco. Based on the running gear as well as the platform of the Eos convertible, it is bold and mean-looking.

The concept is powered by a TSI engine (VW's supercharged and turbocharged powerplant) that is rated at 210hp with a DSG gearbox.

2009 SCIROCCO R

Re-launched after 16 years, the new Volkswagen Scirocco has one of the most groundbreaking designs of any sub-£30,000 new car since the Honda Civic and gives a clear clue to future Volkswagens.

However, the VW could easily have charged more for such a stunning looking car, but by using components from other successful models and combining it with an amazing design VW has built a bold car at an affordable price.

"This time around, the Touareg features such cool features as a carbon fiber-reinforced outer skin that weighs a mere 50 kilograms, a braking system capable of exerting pressure equal to that of 700 meters below sea level and a data acquisition system that can store 250 MB of data that is read and analyzed by race engineers at the close of a days stage."

...and it is telling you to buy a new car. ;-)

Not sure if this is legal... But I certainly appreciate the idea: DDB, Berlin lets people see exactly how far the money in their pockets could get them in a new VW Golf BlueMotion.
