If your holiday shopping includes iPhone apps, here are 10 I find indispensable (well, one is just kind of fun!). They're listed in alpha order ~ with the "fun" one last.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ap-stylebook/id331791595?mt=8

Even though I'm an old Unipresser (UPI for those uninitiated), the AP Stylebook remains the bible of journalistic style. My marketing & PR team follows AP style and it's great to be able to have the book with me at all times.

It's just about ski season. I've also have Snow Report by The North Face (free), but SnowReports gives the best quick-glance overview of conditions.

Surf Report

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/surf-report/id295405621?mt=8

We live at the beach. This app from Oakley is awesome!

There's no better Twitter client. Tweetie handles multiple accounts brilliantly. If you need convincing, check out Don McAllister's ScreenCastsOnline how-to video (http://www.screencastsonline.com/index_files/sco0227-twitter.php). Even if you already own Tweetie 2, I promise you'll learn a few new tricks!

And just for fun ...

Balloons!

Here you go Twitter fanatics, some twitter apps for your mobile devices.  Some of these have options to post to other social sites or be posted into post other social sites.  This is not at all exhaustive, however, these are the more popular applications.

Give Retweets a Chance

Tweetie developer Loren Brichter asks that Twitter users, especially Tweetie users, reconsider their resistance to the new and official retweet method. In Tweetie 2.1, there is an option to use the old style retweet but the syntax has been changed. Previously you have a choice of either RT @username or (via @username). These have been replaced by /via @username as proposed by Chris Messina, the guy who invented the highly popular and often abused hashtag.

If you've been on either side of the via vs RT debate, you should definitely consider his options for the new "slashtags" as he coins it. You can read Chris' proposal and reasons over here. Of course, it's a suggestion but should Twitter app developers get on board, there's some adjustments to be made.

"Tweetie 2.1 for iPhone ships with lists, retweet and geolocation support" - TUAW.com

http://www.tuaw.com/2009/11/30/tweetie-2-1-for-iphone-ships-with-lists-retweet-and-geolocation/?icid=px-iphone

One of the top Twitter clients for iPhone has been refreshed: Tweetie 2.1 is now available in the App Store [iTunes link]. Our friend Christina previewed the new features in 2.1 for Mashable last week, and the updated version delivers with support for Twitter lists, the Retweet capability, spam reporting, and geotagging of tweets (opt-in and optional, so don't worry that Tweetie is going to supercharge your stalkers without telling you). The full list of changes and features is on the app's iTunes page, and it's impressive.

Among the many improvements and tweaks is a crucial bug fix for an issue that had caused many 2.0 users (myself included) to gnash our teeth in frustration: the older version had a lot of problems saving state, causing old updates to appear again and, in the worst-case situation, old tweets to be sent repeatedly. It was aggravating, and it kept me from using Tweetie 2 as my full-time iPhone Twitter client -- but now it's gone.

Tweetie 2 is US$2.99, whether or not you own a copy of Tweetie 1 (it's considered a whole new app). If you're a busy Twitter user on your iPhone or iPod touch, you really ought to give it a try.

Tweetie 2 got updated today. One new feature I really dig is Lists. No more following for me. It's a lot more organized though. The new geotag and retweet are also implemented in this updated version. There are plenty of improvements and fixes too.

Tweetie has always been my favorite app on my iPhone.
