Saturday Nights 2005
In 2005 on any given saturday night, my wife Rachel and I would be watching the Saturday Evening Church Service @ Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, via the Internet. It was what we did late saturday nights. Gabbi would be in bed, or trying to find some way to stay up, and we would be watching the bible study. We lived out by the canal in a house built in 1910. Life was very pleasant.
I usually made fudge, or some cookies or something. Wow, it makes us sound old!! We were only in our 30s! The worship was amazing out there, and we would talk of the day that we would go to the saturday night service live in Costa Mesa, California. It was a sweet, simple time.
Most of Remember Summer was inspired by the worship in those saturday night services, led by Scott Cunningham, Brian Brodersen was teaching through Timothy. I remember the night that we realized we were called to leave Indiana and move back to California, it was during one of Pastor Brian's messages in 2nd Timothy. We had been stressed all that night about what to do with our lives, and how we would accomplish it. It was like Brian was in on the discussion and spoke right into our lives. We moved a couple of months later. . .
Treasure was my poor attempt to come up with the sound of saturday nights there at Calvary Chapel. In the end, I made it a bit too rockin', I didn't include an acoustic guitar, which is like Scott's signature, and I really couldn't get the singing to line up, but this song is like chocked full of memories for me.
