In a massive shopping centre with a family friend that everyone really dislikes (he is my parents' age and left his wife and job with no warning, to go interstate and set up home with another woman. When that didn't work out, he came back to his wife, who oddly took him back. He has also fathered a child with his wife's niece who lived with them for a time when I was still a child).

I've seen part of this shopping centre before in another dream - the section we're looking for is a grand books section.

We finally get on a lift and try to get to this section. The directions are in various Romance languages - French, Spanish, Italian.

* * *

Then we are in a car. My father is in front passenger seat and this disliked family friend is in the driver's. My brother is a toddler and I am hooking him up to his child seat. He's not liking it but I keep telling him that I need to do this to keep him safe.

We are driving through a forest and there are music books hanging from the branches - some viola da gamba books which I apparently have (though not in real life).

Then all of a sudden, my mother is there and she is only interested in the place because my uncle Edwin from the Philippines has been there. Otherwise she wouldn't care at all, as is also the case in real life.

It somehow comes about that my father is bisexual and having an affair with this hated family friend.

Most Wednesday nights KayEm takes the older kids to AWANA while X and I hang out at the house. We usually watch TV or play games. Tonight I decided to take a walk to our neighborhood park.

When I opened the front door, X darted outside to the sidewalk. I directed him to through the gate to our neighborhood walking path and commenced our stroll. X started off tentatively because we usually place him in the stroller when we take a walk. I guess he was trying to make sure that his freedom was real before going all out.

It didn't take him long to start taking confident strides and exploring his surrounding. I, on the other hand, paid no attention to my surroundings because I was so engrossed in my iPhone as I tweeted along the way.

"Leaf!" X yelled and snapped me out of my social media trance. And then I realized that I was allowing a special moment slip away because I wasn't fully present. I slid my phone in my pocket and focused on my son.

"Yes, it is a leaf," I said. "They fall from the trees in autumn." X looked and me and then back at the leaf.

"Leaf," he said before stomping it. He ran ahead a few feet and stomped on another leaf. He did this a few more times until he looked up in the sky and saw a crescent shaped moon.

"MOON!" he yelled.

"Yes, there's the moon," I said. I squatted next to X and pointed to the sky. "Look at the stars around the moon."

He pointed and smiled then started walking again. We continued along the path until we encountered a rabbit.

"Cat," said X. I chuckled as the rabbit ran into the bushes.

"That wasn't a cat," I explained. "That was a rabbit."

"Rabbit?" he asked.

"Yes, rabbits go bouncy, bouncy and cats go meow," I said. He still looked confused so we moved on.

When we reached the park, I grabbed his hand and lead him to the playground. He played on the jungle gym a few times and then pointed to the swings.

"You want Daddy to push you on the swing?" I asked.

"Yes," he replied.

As I pushed him higher and higher X's peals of laughter permeated the cool autumn night and filled my heart with waves of joy.

My 2-year old son, X, who has had trouble talking, has been more verbal since we hired a speech therapist. He is still fond of the word "no," but he has added more words to his vocabulary such as basketball, golf, and punt (call you tell he likes sports?).

This morning, X woke up saying "Jesus." KayEm was astonished because he had never said this word before. Thinking she was hearing things, KayEm prompted him to say the word again.

"Jesus?" She asked. He nodded.

"Jesus loves you," he said. KayEm shrieked with joy and gave X a big hug.

It looks like his time at Bible School is also paying off in more ways than one.
