I think she is right and recycling really never will be enough, but if we just all work together we can make a difference in our lives. All we need to do is make some time to make this happen. We've already waited long enough. And did you know that there is a thing such as Toxic Breast Milk, so the smallest members of our society are getting the worst stuff! But even before that we were still trashing our planet! Also did you know that the USA cumsumes one third of the world's resouces! At this rate we are going to die . . . SOON!  But then again since we caused this commotion so let's try to fix it. Look over the facts again, I think there's something missing, where does the government come in?

Well the government are the what you can say their pretty nice to the corperation, actually the government is more or less smaller than the corperation! For people with lots of power their not doing much to keep the corperation from trashing our planet. So now what are you thinking? Are you angry, upset, sad, with this? This isn't a problem we can run from, so now what do you do? What do you think of the situation at hand?

If you're intrested or have critisim please comment. Thank You.

Arrived in Japan: the boxed book set of Seth Godin classics. A beautiful limited edition collector's item in branded wooden box. I ordered with the counter at 777, and only 800 were ever made. Phew! On the photos, can you find where it almost says, "we need you to read us"?

"Close cover before striking." Where does it say that?

This is an exceptionally well-crafted story that puts into practice several key marketing principles. Watch now and see if you spot 'em.

Here's a few:

1) The "walk" metaphor - It's part of the family name, the brand, the story, and is brought to life as the crux of the action in the rolling hills of Scotland.

2) The brand execution - From the top hat to the tilted label to the square bottle, all the visual elements come together to create a unique position in people's minds and hearts.

3) The values portrayed - Intelligence, ambition, family, fire in the belly, vision... all characteristics that deeply resonate with viewers and convert them into raving fans (even if they don't drink scotch!).

4) The power of story - The same information could have conveyed through a (boring) bullet point laden Powerpoint presentation, right? But human beings are wired for stories - it's just how we are. Need I say more?

So... what's your story?

After a long day a young man went for a walk along the stream that flowed by his house. The sun was setting. He was lost in thought about the days work he had left behind. Attempting to put it all behind him he shrugged off the thoughts of work and began to focus on his surroundings. The sounds of the earth quieting down for the night.  The smell of flowers drifting in the humid summer air. The glass-like trickle of the stream. Then he heard a still, faint, voice cry "help" - it was so faint that it would have been easy to miss.

There it was again, "Help!"

Each time it became clearer to him. The sound was coming from somewhere close by and seemed to be carried along by the stream. He slowly walked upstream looking for someone who was in distress. It sounded like a woman's voice. As he walked the sound became louder and louder but he saw nothing. Only when the sound began to fade and get quieter did he stop and turn around. He walked back a few steps where the cries for help were loudest; though they still had a faint muffled sound.

Nothing. No one.

He looked down at the stream and to his amazement was a beautiful girl in the water reaching out and crying for help. She seemed to be trapped in the water of a deep pool near the streams edge. There was no time to waste. He reached in to grab her arm but it slipped out of his grasp. She looked panicked and afraid. He tried again and got a better grip of her wrist. He felt her grip tighten around his wrist. Slowly he began to pull until her arm was out of the water. But something was pulling back. Soon his arm was almost completely submerged in the water.

He tried to pull back but with no luck whatever was pulling on her was stronger than him. He held his own for a short while then felt more of his arm being pulled into the water. He cried out for help. As he was being drawn further into the dark stream he looked at her face, mesmerized by her beauty and saw a smile slowly replace the fear. First his head, then torso were submerged. And then, finally, his feet sank into the dark pool of the stream. All became dark.
He was gone.

... Soon, after the young man was gone - all was quiet but the sound of running water in a stream. A girl's faint cry for "help" could be heard near the stream .... there was no answer... only the sound of running water like a Siren's song in the night.

One of my buddies is Luigi of Pizzeria Luigi. As such, I get random
phone calls from him. This happened as I was running errands on
Saturday night.

I just got done picking up my dry cleaning at Uptown Cleaners and
hitting up the Trader Joe's in that shopping center in Hillcrest.

While perusing the cheese selection at TJ, I thought to myself, "Self,
I ought to just go to Venissimo." I had a great idea!

So I started driving towards Mission Hills. My phone starts vibrating
and lighting up and beeping. It's Luigi!

L - What up dude?
M - Nothin'...just picking up some cheese at Venissimo.
L - I am at the North Park store, and I am almost off. We should have
that beer.
M - I got groceries, frozen stuff even. It better just be one beer, though.
L - OK. I will be here.

I go in to Venissimo (724 W Washington), talk to the girls that are
working, getting advice on good cheese. See Gina, the Cheese Goddess
herself! Talk to her about cheese plate ideas, catch up, etc.

So I leave there with Teleggio from Lombardy, Italy; Drunken Goat from
Asturias, Spain; Formager d'Affinois - a double cream from France; and
Purple Haze from Cypress Grove, CA.

A fine selection, I must say! Plenty good for the cheese platter that
I will server later (http://tinyurl.com/ygh77sw).

So I drive towards Pizzeria Luigi - North Park (2121 El Cajon Blvd),
and luck out that there is a spot right in front...does it matter that
it is in a red zone? It Saturday after 6:30 pm...who give a F**K,
right?

I see Luigi behind the counter, slinging pies in the back. And I know
I am in for a seriously delicious slice or two right now. The pizza
is bomb ass when that man is in the kitchen.

Other people, possibly sensing this, start flocking to the pizzeria.
There are two dozen people in the place, sitting outside, watching
soccer, drinking beer and letting out whimpers of satisfaction in
between bites.

I am f**king excited to eat this pizza. I was supposed to eat at
home! But you know what...this is special.

I peer in the kitchen and say, "What up, Mate?" Luigi smiles as he is
coordinating orders with the kitchen staff. The kitchen is humming
and pies are going in boxes, and going into the case. There is pizza
everywhere, and smiling faces at every table.

Saturday night! YES! This is gonna be good, indeed.

"So Luigi, I went to Venissimo for some cheese. I got an Italian
one.", tossing him the neatly wrapped wedge. "It's for you, so you
don't miss home too much."

"Taleggio! Good choice.", he says. "You want me to make you a pizza with it?"

I nodded, as I picked my jaw up off the floor.

So he gets into a whirlwind, as he starts picking ingredients for this
custom pie. He picks up some onions, and some mushrooms, slices of
pepperoni. He gets a ball of dough and starts kneeding it. Tossing
it up in the air, the dough joyously defies gravity. He makes a
doughy round canvas in which to paint our pizza.

The red tomato sauce is evenly, and generously spread to the outer
reaches of the canvas crust. He spreads out the chosen ingredients.
He places that pie, with no cheese, right into the oven.

I must of given off a perplexed look, because he eases my concern by
stating "If we put the cheese on too early, it will melt and burn.
Taleggio melts differently, so we gotta make it different."

After what seems like a few mintues, the pizza comes out of the oven,
par-baked. He brings it back to his work surface where he applies
strips of the sliced Teleggio. Back in the oven it goes, for what
would be apparently the melting phase.

I anxiously get a Cherry Coke and a couple of napkins and place myself
by the TV to catch the end of the MLS Eastern Conference Championship
match and this surprise pizza.

Moments later, Luigi comes over with the pie, gloriously baked, and
delicious smelling.

My eyes grew big, my pulse raced, my mouth salivates thinking about
what was in front of me. Yummy.

I took one bite, looked at Luigi, and thought, "Thanks for making my
day buddy!". I wanted to vocalize it, but my mouth was full of this
incredible pizza. And I think by the look of pure bliss in my eyes,
he knew that he did great and he made me a very happy dude.

That was the way I started my Saturday night...
