Olympic pole vaulting champion Yelena Isinbayeva with Prince Albert II at the International Forum Peace and Sport opening ceremony.

I'm so confused.  I feel like that dress is some sort of trick.  It's Yelena Isinbayeva.  This Yelena Isinbayeva:

And this was her just the other night in Monaco at the World Athletics Gala Awards:

But there is no denying Yelena has some questionable taste in clothes:

Yikes.

There's an unconditional love I have with certain figure skaters where they can fall over the place (Carolina Kostner), wear ridiculous clown make-up (Savchenko and Szolkowy), or change their name to Pasha (Oksana Grishuk) and I still stay a fan.  An exasperated and incredibly scared fan (I don't like clowns), but still a fan.

This weekend I found proof that I am a big fan of Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev.  The 2007 junior world champions have never really been on my skating radar until this season.  I've always liked them but they weren't a team I actively cheered for.  But then I saw their adorable Russian sailor original dance and noticed how much they've improved over the last couple seasons.  Then this weekend I was watching Skate Canada and I saw their free dance for the first time this season and.....

IT'S TO AN IL DIVO SONG!!!

My mother once asked me to buy her an Il Divo CD and I refused to do it.  I have horrible, horrible, horrible taste in music and I don't even listen to Il Divo.  But you know what?  The program is gorgeous and possibly one of the best free dances I've seen in a while.

So welcome to the club of unconditionally loved skaters, Katia and Dmitri.  Go ahead and change your name, marry an ex-con tattoo artist in Vegas, poop on the rug even though we just came back from your 5th walk of the day 20 minutes ago.  I still love ya.

Their OD from Skate Canada isn't up on YouTube yet but here's their version of it from NHK trophy a couple weeks ago.

My thoughts should come as no huge surprise to even the most casual NFL fan. We've rapidly passed the halfway mark of this year's NFL season, and when you take a step back and start looking at awards and recognition, you need not look much further then the ageless one, Brett Favre.

Ok, so prior to the first regular season game, 73% of the country hated the man. This included 100% of sports fans in Wisconsin, 68% of sports fans in Minnesota, and another 54% elsewhere around the country. We're ten or so games in now and the popularity ratings are much better for Favre. I'd say 100% of Wisconsin hates him (still) and 99% of the state of Minnesota thinks he probably can walk on water. The rest of the country has this semi tolerant approval of what he is accomplishing.

But let's not stop there. Let's take a big spoonful of salt and dump it into the open heart wound of every Packer fan alive. Favre is the NFL MVP. No matter what side you're on, there's no argument. He leads the NFL with a 112.1 QB rating. His 21 to 3, touchdowns to interceptions ratio is the best start of his career. This is a career that started in 1953 and has seen thousands of quarterbacks come and go. He's been sacked half as many times as Aaron Rogers, and at age 72, Favre looks to be having the time of his life.

Most importantly, the Vikings are playing like the best team in the NFL. They may very well be the best team in the NFL. Could they have done this with Sage? Tavaris? JDB? Fran? Let's agree on doubtful at best. What Brett has done for Minnesota will be woven into the fabric of gridiron greatness.

I'm not a Vikes fan. I'm a Bears fan who is having to stomach steady doses of Jay Cutler every Sunday. I'm really not a huge Brett Favre fan either. I do recognize greatness though when I see it, and Favre is just that. Now if he could take a little Keith Hernandez and Walt Frazier to that terrible beard. He'll look a little neater when he picks up his hardware at season end.

Mountain conditions have been insanely good this winter season and it's not even Thanksgiving yet! Aside from the Arctic-like winds, it was a pretty great day to be riding the snow!

Apparently, all it takes to throw a no-hitter in baseball is a little bit of talent and a whole lot of hallucinogens. Just a pinch between the cheek and gum, I guess. This funny short documents the true story of then-Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher Dock Ellis, who threw a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres in 1970. Dinara's spread (pun intended) for the December issue of Russian Glamour.  In the recent 2009 Woman of the Year awards she was named "Breakthrough of the Year".

Minus the makeup, styled hair, and designer dresses, why do I feel this is a lot like what a typical evening looks like with Dinara? Sitting on the couch, pouting with her broken racket?
