Chris Clark - The Dogs
From his 2001 album Clarence Park.
If you listen carefully in the precious few minutes before a professor starts a midterm, you might hear the pre-midterm thunderstorm. It starts slow, with a few nervous souls tapping their writing utensils of choice. Tap tap tap. A simple, light rain. Then, gently, the invisible conductor raises her arm and beckons for more. A wind crescendos over the room. Twenty more players pick up their instruments and begin to play. Tap tap tap tap tap tap. She beckons again. Another twenty players. And again. The grand finale! Hundreds of players beat their rain drums and build a balanced chaos. Tap tap tap tap tap tap! Tap tap tap tap tap tap!
Without warning, the lights go up. The players, painfully awaken from their lucid dreams, drop their instruments. The thunderstorm stops. Then naturally, the rays of the sun begin to bring the players back to their senses. The midterm starts.Paul Pre is going steady. Dropping two mixes recently, I seriously dig his selections.
