Good news everyone!

Arguably the best drum break compilation series is back for number 16. Classic, dusty soul and funk tunes, that will cost you a fortune (both time and money) if you were looking for the originals. Happy days!

Hello there. I'm quite excited about having a decent space to talk cars and such that isn't an internet-chat-forum-board full of damp-handed greasy weirdos.

If I was going to come up with an ideal concept for this space, I think I'd want a collaborative space for automotive insight. Insight! Such a rare thing in an online parallel universe where everyone's opinion has equal importance. It's the American dream.

What's been getting my goat lately is the Kia Soul - without labouring the point, I hate it that it's easier and cheaper to advertise the personality into a car than it is to actually put the effort into it in the first place. See also: Corsa, MINI, Citroen C3. The Kia is the worst of the lot, though - a sign of what's gone wrong, an omen.

It makes me wonder what soul is when it comes to a car - you can't just call it the Soul and expect people to buy into it. (Except, oh wait - they do. Only problem being that they're mostly middle-aged folks who go caravanning, which deliciously ruins all the PR work you've done when your funky hip thingster wins an award for being a great tow car.) Perhaps it's just subjective. My Dad's Land Rover has soul, but my Mum's Citroen Picasso doesn't. Is Kia trying to inveigle its way into our hearts with the Chinese automotive army on the horizon?

Whatever it is, I don't quite get it.

Governmentalist (Feat. Nas) by Joss Stone
(download)

I have to be honest I'm not really big on social music and yes I only listened to this song because Nas was featured on it and the title caught my eye. After listening to it though I had a different feeling about soul music like I could really listen to it and maybe learn something. It's very "soulful" as it was said on TheLIfeFIles. Hopefully you enjoy the song as much as I did.
