First of all, every coming attraction they showed before the actual film, I WANT TO SEE: Surrogates; Shutter Island; Zombieland; and others I can't remember. All look like must see movies.
District 9 was a solid movie. Believe the hype. If you enjoy science fiction; action and allegory then this thinking-man's movie is for you. With solid acting, incredible imagery and a compelling story, this movie was able to engage me and keep me entertained throughout. I give it an 8.5 out of 10. I cannot recommend this book enough. Dennis Lehane, author of "Mystic River" and "Gone Baby Gone" has written fantastic mystery that's dark, cryptic and wonderfully paced. I don't think I've ever read dialogue this good. Read it before the movie comes out in October.
I still haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I've heard the book by Dennis Lehane (who wrote the books Mystic River and Gone Baby Gone were based on) is really good.
It looks like Martin Scorsese has hit upon a good look for the film. And he couldn't have asked for a better cast. Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Michelle Williams, Max von Sydow, and Jackie Earle Haley star. This could definitely be an early Oscar favorite and I think we should look for DiCaprio to get another nomination...maybe a win?
The story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo),
who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of
Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a
murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally
insane. Shutter Island opens on October 2, 2009.
