Malibu mini video: sponataneous moment of nature-appreciation. I know it seems strange that an Angeleno can forget his proximity to the ocean, but in the business of the day, it's easy to forget.  LA is seaside town!

Actual penguin fact: you can't tell the gender of a penguin (for sure) by looking.[1] You have to do a DNA test.

[1]at least, for African penguins and their close cousins, Magellanic and Humboldt. Not sure about the others and too lazy to do the research right now :-)

This brown pelican and seagull remind me of the Mutt and Jeff comic strip. Years ago that reference was commonly made when a pair were tall and short. Anyway, these two birds were sociably perched beside the Bon Secour River.

i saw a lady yesterday walking over the bridge on temple way. her hair was white- blonde and cropped, like a sindy doll whose hair has been savaged by a bored five year old, and she wore a strapless frock with smocking on the front and shiny black gladiator sandals. she was grasping a bulgy black suitcase to her chest with one arm and holding a mobile phone to her ear with the other. she was shouting into the phone: 'your fucking jealousy! its driving me insane, fucking insane!', screaming it, over the noise of the seagulls and the juggernauts. as she moved closer to me i realised that the pressure of the suitcase was pulling the front of her dress down, and i caught a fleeting but full glimpse of her breast. i didnt mean to look at her nipple, but i did, and i couldnt unlook at it after that. it was a split second, where i was looking at the breast of this screaming woman with sindy doll hair. she dropped the suitcase to the ground and then i had passed her and couldnt possibly look back, but i assume she readjusted herself and carried on with her conversation. i think she stopped shouting though.
