Limp BIzkit's lead singer Fred Durst dropped this late-breaking lesson in eloquence earlier today. If like me, you were waiting for the @ reply barrage - something of crowdsourced cease and desist - to to hit, then you're still waiting. Shockingly, the responses have been encouraging for this new Limp Bizkit album (and I did multiple Twitter searches), here are some of misguided tweets:
@freddurst BRING ON THE GOLD COBRA ! ! ! First day buyer.
@freddurst I CAN'T WAIT! i want to be in the next video with my blinged out bracelets.lol just kidding.it was nice meeting u Mr.D. best news all day...RT @FredDurst The new Limp Bizkit album will be titled GOLD COBRA!! Spread the werd. Bring it!
I'm guessing the only other news the person behind that third tweet digested today was a report on Sarah Palin's Amazon numbers (which is a whole other depressing discussion). All I have to say is, have you people forgotten...

That's the view of the front lobby area at last night's Pixies show at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Those red beacons of light are the exit signs over the front doors. Most of the show attendees you see here are standing there because that's as close as they could get to the stage.
According to some commenters at Brooklyn Vegan, you can call Ticketmaster and they'll give you a partial refund based on the fact that the Doolittle Tour shows happening at Hammerstein this week were egregiously oversold. Likewise, some people are being told by Ticketmaster to basically take a hike ("all sales are final"...guh). Either way, I'd like to know who the greedy merchants responsible for this are - The promoters? The venue? The band? (say it ain't so...)My advice to anyone going tonight, get to Hammerstein unreasonably early tonight.
I'm halfway through my first listen to the Them Crooked Vultures album, released today. It's not rocking my socks off yet. However, some of the song titles are priceless: Caligulove
Mind Eraser, No ChaserInterlude With LudesAnd there's something strangely appealing to 'Warsaw or The First Breath You Take After You Give' too.
The moral of the story is that there is a definite possibly that had Rick James not been arrested for deserting and thrown in the brig for a year in the mid-60s, the band Buffalo Springfield might have never happened...
In 1964, Rick James was on the lam in Toronto after going AWOL from the Navy. He decided to hide out by pursuing Rock n' Roll stardom. James would eventually form a band among which included Neil Young and future member of Steppenwolf keyboardist Goldie McJohn - who I'm not familiar with, but I really like his rock name.
The band was dubbed the Mynah Birds and had a Stones-esque aesthetic to it. Spinner.com wrote, "The result was the curious sight of a black American imitating a white Englishman imitating a black American." They came real close to breaking it big with Motown. And the group actually traveled to Detroit and recorded an albums worth of material with Smokey Robinson. Then, James got pinched and put in jail. The record got shelved, and Young made moves for the coast. Here's a taste of one of Mynah Bird tunes that only recently became available as part of a Motown singles box set:
I don't know that I'm going to make too many friends with this video, but the song rocks - the junkyard shenanigans going on are admittedly disturbing. Here's White Denim's 'Shake, Shake, Shake'...
AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although the band are commonly classified as hard rock and are considered pioneers of heavy metal, they have always classified their music as "rock and roll". AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1977. The band recorded their highly successful album Highway to Hell in 1979. Lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected to replace Scott. Later that year, the band released their best-selling album, Back in Black. The band's next album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, was their first album to reach number one in the United States. As of 2008, AC/DC has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, including 71 million albums in the United States. Back in Black has sold an estimated 45 million units worldwide, 22 million in the US alone, where it is the fifth-highest-selling album. AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and was named the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time" by MTV. In 2004, the band was ranked number 72 in the Rolling Stone list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".
