I wish I had seen this reminder, first. Sometimes, I forget to think critically about the simple matters of the day. I feel a resolution coming on.

The first 1080p HD YouTube video is simply brilliant. In more ways than one.

The Muppets performing Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".

I know it's just a silly little blue ribbon, but it was my first speech. I hate public speaking, but decided to tackle it head on (New Year's Resolution) and sign up for the Toastmaster intro class at work.

Now the expectation has been set, and I need to perform! The next speech is in two weeks.

You gotta watch out for those New Years resolutions. Sometimes you put the idea out there and wham, the next day you get laid off. What a sense of humor.

Here's another aphorism from the same source: More will be revealed.

Three things I want to learn this year:

  1. Bread. I am decent cook, probably, but I don't know how to make bread. As a frenchman that almost makes it impossible for me to go back to my homeland ;)
  2. Ukulele. I need to put back some musical fun and the uke seems the way to go. And it's small and cheap.
  3. Volcada. It is in my opinion one of the most elegant and delicate word that one can dance in Tango.

  • First and foremost, CHOOSE
  • Be mindful
  • Read more books in a shorter period of time; one to one and a half months (I'm a slow reader)
  • Regain my assertiveness and self-confidence; stop being so hesitant and second guessing everything
  • Learn and develop five new technical skills
    • Dive further into Mechatronics and Automation
    • Learn new programming languages
    • More if time permits
  • Find new cooking recipes, and actually cook them while maintaining a low budget
    • Slow cooking recipes
    • High protein, low-carb recipes?
  • Continue documenting daily life (flickr)
  • Become more active
    • Morning runs, weights, maybe some cross training
    • Boxing/get a punching bag to release built up anger and frustration
    • GO climbing at least three times this year
    • Go hiking in the mountains
  • See new places (travel) and leave having learned at least one new thing from each place
  • Be less self-destructive
  • Watch more movies, both major and independent, now that I'm no longer subscribed to cable service. There's so many movies that I haven't realized that I've been missing.
  • Find a new happy place
  • Fine tune and stick to a healthier sleep schedule
  • Care a little lot less
    • Depend less on certain people to be honest
    • Let go
  • End the year a little better of a person

A resolution making its way through Congress offers an apology to all Native peoples on behalf of the United States. It passed the Senate as an amendment to the Indian Health Care Improvement Act. The legislation comes after Australian and Canadian governments have both apologized to their native populations in recent years. Melissa Block talks to the measure’s sponsor, Sen. Sam Brownback.
