I'll be hosting an open house today from 1-4pm at a fabulous new construction home - in the heart of the Willard School district in the Heights section of Ridgewood. It's finish is very high-end. This builder is known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. His bathrooms are one-of-kind, and in this home there are five of them. Listed at $1.43 million.
Come check it out!

Marron Gildea & Donohue, Ridgewood.

Economy is doing better they say. Unemployment is record high. Delinquencies on mortgage payments are higher than the record highs of last year and the year before. They say interest rates are low but it hasn't stemmed the tide. These are the basics of the macroeconomic trends today. There is too much optimism still in the market, given these factors. There will be another collapse in the economy in the next 12-24 months. Just an educated ex-loan officer, ex-insurance consultant, ex-real estate salesperson, ex-investor, and ex-business consultant's opinion...

Just as I blogged about Yellow's twitter billboard campaign and what they forgot to do, I'm going to shine the light on myself
and share what our launch was like. If you criticise others, you've got to be willing to be criticised yourself.

If you haven't been following, our company iJump celebrated it's rebranding as #sy last night at Carista House.  We were actually launching 2 things, the #sy brand and a marketing programme to sell Carista House, the venue of our launch.

In hindsight, we probably should have just done one thing well. By the time we realised that we might not be able to achieve what we promised the community, it was too late. The buzz around #sy had gained momentum beyond what we could stop. We were a victim of our own success before we even started.

Some key learnings;

  1. When you and your team prepare for something that's never been done before and test out new ideas, it's scary!
  2. It's made me realise why big brands are afraid of this space, afraid of being talked about, whether negatively or constructively.
  3. Out of the entire evening, we learnt that we've never been talked about this much - until now. Wow.
  4. Times are changing, and so are businesses. We've got to experiment to find out what we're changing to.
  5. No textbook would have prepared us for this.
  6. I'm immensely proud of our team
  7. Most of all I'm grateful to you for caring enough to kick up a fuss

What new ideas do you have on the shelf that you're not prepared to put your reputation on the line for?

"The information includes location info, photographs, video Street View scenes containing the property, local transport info, and adWords adverts. Basically it's all the info you'd need to help you make a choice on looking at a property in person when you're on the market to buy a new home"
