Ghetto Quietly Launch Party - Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force

MMR's new sister label Ghetto Quietly launches in Dublin this weekend with a rock solid line up of Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force peddling their sonic wares along with various MCs.

Prince Kong's 'Proper Horror Show' on 2 x 12 inch vinyl will be the label's first release and expect much of the material from this release to feature in Kong's set.

Dublin based Ghetto Quietly will concentrate on limited runs of vinyl for local artists... thus far: Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force. Expect GQ vinyls to coincide roughly with MMR digital download releases for these Irish artists.

Perhaps not so much a sister label as a bastard cousin.. the one your Mom never wanted you to hang out with as they were from the wrong side of the tracks!

Prince Kong's 'Proper Horror Show' Review on Superfan

Another great review for Prince Kong's latest release 'Proper Horror Show' mini album... this time from Superfan2009.com.

THE TIME - 777-9311 (1982)

If you're like me and watch Purple Rain quarterly a year Prince isn't the only reason you're watching.  Morris Day is another big reason as is his performances with The Time!

The first three albums by The Time are fantastic, from the self-titled 1981 debut, to What Time Is It? in 1982 (represented here by 777-9311) and 1984's Ice Cream Castle which coincided with Purple Rain and contained the songs performed in that film, Jungle Love and The Bird.  The rumor is that Prince wrote and performed most of the music on these albums but the liner notes say different.  Well, it does sound like Prince's music but... Bah, whatever, both Prince and Morris Day are amazing and if it means I get both performing on one album I'll take it!

The band still tours to this day under the name Morris Day And The Time and tonight they will be performing at Sunset Junction, and hell yes, I'm seeing them!  If I can possibly experience any moment from what I see on Purple Rain I'm good.  Anyone know if Jerome still performs with them, other than special performances.  If I see that mirror-bit from the film I'll be in heaven.  We'll see...

US artist Prince holds an umbrella as he retruns to his hotel after the first of his two shows, on the last day of the 43rd Montreux Jazz Festival, in Montreux, Switzerland, late 18 July 2009. Shortly before the concert, the Prince management ruled that no photographers will be allowed at the concert.
