Opening Song: None Is Like God, 1st and 4th verses

None is like God, who reigns above,
So great, so pure, so high;
None is like God, whose Name is Love,
And Who is always nigh.

O if we love Him as we ought,
And on His grace rely,
We shall be joyful at the thought
That God is always nigh.

Scripture: Isaiah 44:8-11

8 Don't fear, neither be afraid. Haven't I declared it to you long ago, and shown it? You are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Indeed, there is not. I don't know any other Rock."
9 Everyone who makes an engraved image is vain. The things that they delight in will not profit. Their own witnesses don't see, nor know, that they may be disappointed.
10 Who has fashioned a god, or molds an image that is profitable for nothing?
11 Behold, all his fellows will be disappointed; and the workmen are mere men. Let them all be gathered together. Let them stand up. They will fear. They will be put to shame together.

Message

There are many things in this world that people worship as gods. Sometimes worldly desires such as money, sex, drugs or fame are put in high places in our minds and we lust after them instead of seeking God. Some of us actually worship other spirits and even make statues or images of those spirits. Even worse, some would claim that all these other spirits as represented by various images and statues are all various forms of one divine spirit, and therefore we all are worshiping God even if we worship God in another form. But this is not true at all. There is in fact only one true God in only three manifestations: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Anything else or any other spirit is powerless in the face of the one true God. Any worldly desire that takes the place of God in our minds is meaningless and is not of God. These things are all referred to in the Bible as idols, and God says that we shouldn't bow to them. Nothing is to be placed above or even beside God in our lives; no spirit, no image or statue and no desire or created thing. God alone is above all and is the only one worthy of such high regard and worship. So we must be careful what we think about and how much. We must be careful that the things we want and the worldly things we love don't take our minds off God, who supplies all we can ever hope for. Because if we do let something else take the place of God in our lives, we will ultimately be disappointed. Nothing in Heaven or in earth and no spiritual being comes close to the love, grace, mercy and power of God, and none of these other things could possibly save us as Jesus Christ did when He laid down His life for each one of us.

Prayer

LORD, we thank You that we are able to come to Your throne of grace. We thank You that Your mercy and loving kindness are everlasting. God, there are things in our lives that we have set in high places in our minds. We sometimes give these things so much attention that they take our minds off You and become gods to us. Help us to remember that You created all these worldly things, so they could never take Your place. Help us to keep our minds focused on You so that we're not disappointed when the things we desire fail to satisfy us as only You can. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Opening Song: Under the Blood, 1st and 2nd verses

Lord, keep my soul from day to day,
Under the blood, under the blood;
Take doubt and fear and sin away,
Under the precious blood.

Under the blood, the precious blood,
Under the cleansing, healing flood;
Keep me, Savior, from day to day;
Under the precious blood.

The sinner’s refuge here alone,
Under the blood, under the blood;
Here Jesus makes salvation known,
Under the precious blood.

Under the blood, the precious blood,
Under the cleansing, healing flood;
Keep me, Savior, from day to day;
Under the precious blood.

Scripture: Genesis 3:8-13

8 They heard the voice of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.
9 Yahweh God called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?"
10 The man said, "I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself."
11 God said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
12 The man said, "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate."
13 Yahweh God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

Message

Since the beginning of time, people have tried to run away and hide from God whenever they do something displeasing to Him. But trying to hide from an all knowing God is impossible. He knows us because He made us. He knows where we are at all times, and He always knows what we're doing and why. It seems that we try to hide from God because we're afraid of punishment for our sin. But just as much as God knows all things, He gives us His love, mercy and grace. So instead of trying to run and hide ourselves and our sin from God, we should be running to God, so that He can take our sin and hide it under the blood of Jesus Christ. You see, we can't hide from God, and we can't hide our sin on our own. But Jesus died and lives again, and He is the only one who can hide our sin under His blood. So the next time you do something that God doesn't like, don't try to run away. You can't, because it's impossible. Instead run to God, confess your sin and ask for forgiveness. The blood of Christ is always available to take that sin away, and it will never lose its power.

Prayer

Father, we thank You for always being with us. We thank You that You sent Jesus to die for us so that we can have our sin taken away by His blood. God, it's really easy for us to want to hide our sin from you on our own, when all the time we should be running to you to have our sin hidden under the blood. Help us to realize that our own attempts to hide ourselves are for nothing. Help us to know that You do see everything, but that You love us unconditionally and care enough to give us Your grace and mercy through the blood of Jesus Christ which saves us all. In the powerful and merciful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Opening Song: I Have a Savior, 1st verse

I have a Savior, He died for me
In cruel anguish on Calv’ry’s tree.
I do not merit such love divine,
Only God’s mercy makes Jesus mine.

Jesus, my Savior, I come to Thee
In full surrender Thine own to be.

Scripture: Romans 5:6-11

6 For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die.
8 But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God's wrath through him.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.

Message

Jesus didn't die for righteous people. There would have been no need for that, and it would have been completely unnecessary. But because we have all sinned and fallen short of God's glory, (Romans 3:23), something needed to be done to allow us to be able to regain His glory in our lives and stand blameless in His presence. To this end, God had to send His one and only Son into this cruel world to be born and live as a man, suffer the greatest torture imaginable and die hanging by nails on a tree. But did He wait for us to become blameless and righteous on our own? No, again, that would have been unnecessary, because if we could gain our own righteousness without His help, He could have simply allowed us to do exactly that. Jesus suffered and was killed while we were still sinners in order to make us appear blameless in the presence of God. Then by the grace of God through the suffering of His Son, we are picked up, cleaned up and clothed in robes that have been washed in the powerful blood of Jesus Christ, and we are allowed to stand in God's presence fully faultless and justified by our faith in His salvation, which we receive free of charge simply because He loves us.

If you haven't taken a bath in the precious blood of Jesus Christ, I would urge you to do so now. I can guarantee it's the best bath you can ever hope to take, and it's free for anyone who believes with all their heart that they can be saved from their sin by the power of His blood. I would also encourage believers to take this moment to recommit their lives to Jesus Christ. Yes, you can wash yourself in His blood again. We all need it from time to time, since the world seems to like to try to get in the way of our life in Christ

Prayer

Jesus, we come to you giving thanks for Your precious and powerful blood, which washes all our sin away and is treasured far beyond anything on Earth. LORD, some of us are in need of that first cleansing by the blood. Take us in Your gentle arms and bathe us in the power of the blood of Christ. Live in us today so that we may live in You. LORD, some of us have already taken that first bath, but we allowed the world to come between us and You. Cleanse us again and renew in us a right spirit, mind and heart. Help us to never again lose our focus on the most important treasure of all treasures: Jesus Christ. In the powerful and precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
