just found out today that there is now a Canine Influenza, similar to the H1N1, but does not cross human and dog, and they are starting to also give out a vaccine for your dog for this flu (skeptical - to new) ~ my vet says there is not a lot of information because it is just too new, but the CDC.gov site is preparing to put out information on this issue ~ FYI for all you pet owners and lovers... more to worry about...grrrr

Founded in 1866, the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the first humane organization established in the Americas and serves as the nation’s leading voice for animal welfare. The ASPCA’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. They provide local and national leadership in animal-assisted therapy, animal behavior, animal poison control, anti-cruelty, humane education, legislative services, and shelter outreach. In 2008 alone, they responded to 50,000 inquiries from the public, rescued more than 400 animals from abusive situations, investigated over 5,200 cases of animal cruelty, and helped more than 2,600 animals who were disaster victims. What does the ASPCA want you to know? Cruelty is no way to treat a best friend. With your help, they can create a safer and more humane future for the animals they serve. Help Pich Wahyt shine the light brightly on the ASPCA by spreading the word. To learn more, donate or get involved, visit: http://www.aspca.org.
