I promise this is the last one...still can't find these anywhere but I'm really looking forward to trying one.
Just picked this up on vinyl this afternoon from Other Music.
One of my dreams since childhood is to go on Safari. More precisely a
photography Safari in Africa. Other things have a higher priority
right now but I’m pretty sure I’ll make it happen some day.
Here are some other kinds of Safari’s that I think are almost as cool.
Apple’s Safari the web browser - I love Safari 4 on the Mac, it’s fast
and stable and just gets out of my way when I’ve got browsing to do.
I have to admit that I do still randomly switch between Firefox and
Safari (often with both running) without much rhyme or reason.
Occasionally I will also fire up Plainview, a webkit based browser
that runs full-screen and is great for web based presentations as well
as viewing photo and art sites.
Safari for iPhone (and iPod Touch) - It's the best mobile browsing experience I have
come across. Both regular "desktop web pages" and iPhone optimized
pages are easy to read and navigate. I just wish I could keep more
than 8 pages open at once.
Safari Books Online - if you read or need to reference a lot of (mostly)
computer tech books a subscription to safari could save you a lot of
money and time and could also save some trees. They also have an
iphone optimized version of their site that allows reading book
content directly on your iphone.
Safari Fountain Pens by Lamy. These are reasonably priced, molded
plastic pens that come in a variety of colors. The design is modern
and mostly understated except for the rather large clip on the cap.
I’m using a matt-black version with a black fine tip nib. I love the
feel of how these pens glide across the page. There is something
wonderfully analog about a fountain pen, but I’m not big on the ornate
designs of many. They also make an aluminum version called the
Al-Star and a great clear plastic version called the Vista. They also make ballpoint, rollerball and mechanical pencils in the same style.
Last but not least... Safari Toobs - These clear plastic “toobs” full
of small plastic figurines are great toys for kids of all ages (well
at least older than the stick in in your mouth and swallow ages).
Each toob has a theme like jungle, desert, dinosaur and Galapagos and
has a dozen or so small plastic animal, people and other theme related
figurines. Tons of fun especially when you mix a couple or more toobs
together... Carnivorous Dinos meet Knights and Dragons and Space !
