| So I accumulated much overtime this weekend with the Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings......some people love their overtime because they like the money it becomes on their paycheque, but I like to use mine to take time off with pay.As an event coordinator, in a year, this transfers to a lot of time off with pay, as you can probably imagine if you realize that every event I do is outside of normal office hours!I love this time - I love that I will take Nov 12 and 13th off and have a 5 day weekend. I love taking the day we have to leave for an out of town swim meet off so I can pack and have us ready to go once the kids are home from school. I love taking a day randomly because, well why not?! I love every minute of these days - if I'm cleaning or having a do nothing day! I'll love these days when I take them because I have a paper to write or a test to study for....or when its so cold that I am glad I don't have to leave the house and drive on crazy roads. By far my favourite is basically most of the summer when I go camping and to my folk festivals - I've already been looking at last summers festival photos dreaming of next summer.I also love planning my work schedule/event year a few years in advance so I can make sure that the events don't interfere with things I want do do - the worst ever was when the u2 concert this past weekend was announced because I knew it'd be tight to get to Vancouver and back and be home for event day, and I did it (and the event was a huge success, both nights, according to the audience I talked to as they were leaving).I think I'd love to take every day off....with pay. Until then, I'll keep loving the job that lets me do this - have so much family time, me time when needed, and be flexible in how I want this to look. I'm pretty lucky! |
