Boss, albeit a few times removed, by way of Bob Rae the Foreign Affairs critic; never mind MacKay/Harper, and probably most so Jack Layton1, the Kingmaker nowadays on the Hill. I'm sent to far off garbage heaps to write those political analysis reports that no one reads,: well except for one, it even gained an acronym M**D**N*P, re: Nato's Afghanistan deployment; I wrote it largely playing the devil's advocate, but it gained traction with Conservative war mongers (I seriously thought that piece of garbage would be the end of my career). Neeeways, I'm a huge fanboy of, you, Mr. Ignatieff for exemplary reasons that in the history of politics are perhaps unparalleled 2 A bit of background, Ignatieff is to the real world as Bartlett is to fiction *cough* ivory tower *cough*. He's taught at tons of prestigious schools, Oxford, LES, Harvard (where I’m pretty sure he earned his PhD) & would later teach some good friends of ours3
Here I turn to his aforementioned exemplary work, applying order to chaos in International Law, Multi-Lateral Institutions, & especially in the field of Human Rights, wherein our age faces the greatest and most imperative problems. Yes, I've seen theoretical (philosophical) discussion on these rights but following the read thread, you are distinguished by laying a distinct claim to these rights for everyone, for the flourishing of all people. By way of the Human Rights imperative (outlined in the UN's Universal Declaration on Human Rights) he's guide lined in rather acute ways (and controversial, though later retracted ~ this instance itself is impressive, the just person spends his entire life in atonement whereas the unjust makes excuses) what these rights are in practice globally and which serve as the basis for ethics in governments and more specifically the politicians ie YOU, who run them.
Here I'll have to cut all this gushing short. I'm a student of classics, largely the Hellenic, in political theory, which is not politics. So my faith in the sort runs infinitesimally thin. However, that means I still have faith & specifically you who have shown the will & the strength to exercise judgment not in a deranged fundamentalist orthodoxy but for justice, venerable as it unites and conceals the highest & rarest of virtues.5Later

4) Bulb At A Time.. A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would . With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good Canadian.
Good idea . . . one light bulb at a time . . . . Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowe's the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments . They were all made in China . The next day I was in Home Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in Canada. Start looking. In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job. So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track . Let's get behind her! My grandson likes Hershey's candy . I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more . My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico now. I have switched to Crest .. You have to read the labels on everything . This past weekend I was at Wal-mart . I needed 60W light bulbs . I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled, "Everyday Value. " I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this -in Canada in a company in Ontario. So throw out the myth that you can not find products you use every day that are made right here . My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in Canada - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors! If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying Canadian, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies! (We should have awakened a decade ago . . . . . . ) Let's get with the program . . . . help our fellow Canadians keep their jobs and create more jobs here in Canada. ---------------------------------------------
