A real store becomes virtual online with a digital experience launched in China by New Balance.

Nice atmosphere thanks to the lounge music in the background, but the rest of the navigation results a bit mysterious. And it's not a question of language.

Sunny day in London makes for wild shadows, but the lines on this model are even wilder.

We’ve all bought sneakers (you probably are wearing some now) and the process is pretty obvious – go to the store, look at a few, try them on, buy a pair and you are off and running.  But where did that sneaker come from?  Did it have a life before it showed up on your feet?  The clever gang at New Balance thought some people would like to know the secret world of sneakers before they jump in a box and are shipped all over the world.

New Balance, trying to get some street cred in the tough sneaker market, already had one ace to play – limited edition.  The company only made 480 pairs of “574 Clips” - a cool looking sneaker that definitely turns heads (or feet).

So, next up the company wanted to add some drama and fun, some storytelling that got people to not just let their new kicks do the talking – they wanted something that would motivate people to share a sneaker story with friends.  With each new pair of 547 clips the company included a Polaroid of the sneaker in some random place in the world, and directed people to the campaign site to see the behind-the-scenes story of their new pair of sneakers.  Once at the site you scroll through 480 polaroids to find the image that matches they one you have and you are treated with a fun short video of your sneaker’s early days on earth. Clever, cute and oh so deliciously mischievous – and we love it.  People enter the code that came with their Polaroid to claim their official ownership of and can share with friends and family via a variety of social sites.

Yes, it takes time scrolling through the Polaroids and of course then watching the videos but each is only about 10 seconds and length and some you just can’t help but click on because the initial image just has you scratching your head a bit.

A great campaign on all fronts - although aimed at a particular target market, sneakerheads, will appeal to many more and definitely gets a gold star for creativity.

Now, how can we make it better?  Always the challenge we pose to ourselves..  We’d love to see some geotagging element – when I claim my sneaker let me tell you where I live (and now my new 574 Clips live too) for an added bit of fun on the site.   We’d love to be able to see a mash up of some of the more clever videos and let them tell a bit of a story when viewed all together.

OK – we give up.  We love this campaign and what it sets out to do it does, so we’ll stop hurting our brain and just send a “well done!” to the team behind the 574 clips effort.

At its foundation, New Balance had the image of being an old fogey's shoe, but these bright colorways are sure to bring a little pep to your old man's step (I'm getting up there too). I prefer the G in this RGB pack and although the straight back of these G's are cutting the corner at only slightly less than 90 degrees, the aerial angle looks just about right. Another thought on the RGB three, that last photo is really making me laugh (that group pose is mad funny), but I won't hold it against the boys at Sneakerstuff.  They are in fact boys right? I'm a bit confused from this toe-posin' picture. Maybe the proud flying flag is where the RGB idea came from? It doesn't really matter, because regardless of whether you like funny boys or serious women, young bucks or old fogies, sneaker love supersedes the spectrum of personal partner preference and that's what this is all about. Good work fellas.

This just in at the WhatWearYou Headquarters.

I know the brand New Balance doesn’t appeal to Singaporean males for
obvious reasons but let’s toss those bad memories out of the window
and go check out this amazing New Balance 999 Feral Creation.

You can read a full feature on the collection here.

Lastly, mad props to Leftfoot and Mita for the Feral Creation!

I will definitely be biased about this choice. I'm a sucker for white sneakers and white pants. But I'm not a fan of wearing a pair of sneakers with low-rise socks peeking out to see what's going on outside of this shoe.

Let's give it a quick shot.

Overall white with minute pink motives - a girly girl.

This girly girl is also fond of how a brand represents her (usually confident people don't need a huge brand shout-out, hence), she's prolly saying "If you think this is a Nike, then you're wrong. I'm not like everyone else. This is New Balance, go Google it sucker". She wants people to know that she's not a mainstream person like every other people other. she enjoys being different, she strives to be different, job or whatever she does.

Of course, she prolly doesn't really know of New Balance or her name is prolly Naby or Nona or perhaps she just likes white shoes with a letter on it. Also, I've seen fake New Balance shoes with huge "NB" patterns too. Ah, shoes.

In the past some players have tried to throw cold water on recent New Balance releases (and perhaps justifiably so) but not even ice cold water can stop this hot number right here (1500) from being on fire. The only way to win is to fight fire with fire, so if you want to diss these, you better show me something that's bringing MORE FIRE (big up to my West Indians). Stay alert and never sleep on NewB's, you never know when they'll launch another blue flame fireball at your sneaker lovin' a$$. Hadōōōōken!
