Are Christian conservative leaders citing religious differences to preempt Mitt Romney - along with a decent chance at taking back the presidency in 2012? It could be headed that way. Here's a good article on how the religious right may be shooting itself in the foot by shutting out those beyond a specific faith group.

This is the first temple I ever visited. I hope to return to it again some day.

Check out the photographer, who travels all over the United States (and world) creating one of the most prolific portfolios I've ever seen.

This is fun.

One of the recent "Homefront" ads from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was recognized thusly,

Swashbucklers was recognized by community service directors for its relevance, high production quality, and exceptional combination of excitement, humor, and warmth. “The Swashbucklers PSA had a great message about parents spending
quality-family time with their children,” said Jana Gordon of WAVY-TV, Portsmith, VA’s NBC affiliate. “It was incredibly well-produced and the concept was so different than many of the other PSAs the station receives. I really enjoyed sharing that message with our viewers.”

JRE Family says...

Have you ever heard of binge eating bulimic Seagulls?  They actually ate the crickets, went for a little drink in creek, then vomited them up and went back for more.  This went on for 3 WEEKS until all the crickets were gone!

For those of you who don't know this story, the mormon pioneers just settled in the Salt Lake Valley (summer of 1848), they were into their 2nd year settling there in the valley, and they just went through a very hard winter, and desperately needed these crops to grow or they would starve.  Drought, and late spring frosts killed lots of their crops already, and now the crickets were getting ready to finish off what they had left.

check out the quote:

“We were fearfully alarmed, for all of a sudden, circling above our … fields, appeared great flocks of screaming gulls. ‘A new plague is descending upon us,’ was our first thought. Down the gray and white birds swooped in hundreds, then in thousands, uttering shrill … cries as they pounced upon [the crickets]. … Then a strange thing happened. As soon as they had gorged themselves, they sailed over to a nearby stream, took a few sips of water, disgorged [vomited] and returned to join their screaming companions. All our people stood in wonderment! Our prayers were answered” (quoted in Grant, p. 446).

The seagulls came back day after day for about three weeks. They ate crickets until all the crickets were gone. The Saints knew their prayers had been answered in a miraculous way. They were grateful that their crops and their lives had been spared.

Alan says...

Queen Creek, Arizona - After suffering through several scorching summers, Alan Bradford, 28, made a public announcement today that has shocked the community. He is leaving his wife of seven years for a water bottle. Not just any water bottle. A 24-ounce BPA free water bottle with autoseal lid and caribiner clip. (Get yours at Amazon)

Manufactured by Contigo, this water bottle can also slice potatoes, speak Mandarin Chinese with a British accent, and upload videos directly to YouTube.

Harvey Levin is heading up the legal team for this high-profile case. At the time of this writing, it is believed that Bradford is attempting the first ever marriage to a water bottle.

It is unsure how this story will end. In addition to family turmoil, Bradford's actions have caused a commotion with local religious leaders. Bradford belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, often referred to in the media as the Mormon or LDS Church. As recent media attention has made clear, the LDS Church promotes marriage solely between a man and woman. This conservative stance has caused considerable media buzz in recent weeks, stemming from an incident in July when a gay couple was detained on Church property for kissing. (Full story here).

Although it is understood that same-sex marriage is not endorsed, it is unclear whether the LDS Church will tolerate a marriage between man and water bottle. Church officials were unavailable for comment.

When asked if he truly intends to pursue his plans, Bradford was firm.

"I'm positive that if anyone out there simply tries this water bottle, they will see my side. It's not really as weird as it sounds. I just want to be with someone who doesn't leak all over my car, you know? Someone who I can clip my keys onto at the gym. Someone who doesn't get all worked up when I push their buttons. I know I'm making the right choice."

Initial courtroom proceedings are scheduled for the end of August. It has been requested that all media questions be directed to Harvey Levin via his Twitter account: @harveylevinTMZ.
