The return of the Russians as Modern Warfare 2's primary antagonists wasn't always a given. In a new interview, writer Jesse Stern said that Infinity Ward considered a wide variety of foes for the sequel, including aliens and zombies.

"In the beginning we talked about having things in Modern Warfare 2 like outbreaks, viruses, chemical warfare, and even outlandish things such as aliens and the living dead," Stern told GamePro.

"We worked our way through it before we finally ended up with a more grounded version of the real world as it's depicted in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. And as we were kicking around scenarios for conflict, we kept stumbling into things that were happening in real life, which was honestly unintentional."

Some of the real-life events that occurred during Modern Warfare 2's development included the Russian invasion of Georgia (the country), and the terrorist attack on Mumbai. The latter hit a "little too close to home," Stern said.

"We didn't intend on doing anything ripped straight from real headlines or based directly on current events. We did want to capture that feeling of unimaginable scenarios that are prevalent, but so distant from the psyche on any given day."

"That's the thing about making Modern Warfare 2: it's mostly fantasy, but you can put people very close to real situations that you normally wouldn't want to be involved in."

No zombies though. If you want to fight the living dead, you'll just have to go back to Call of Duty: World at War.

I have never been a fan of Battlefield but have always adored Call of Duty. Call of Duty's single player has always had incredible non-stop action packed missions. It made you feel like you were actually there in the war fighting. But the real reason for playing any Call of Duty was for its multiplayer action. With the latest release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) however it looks like Infinity Ward have ruined the game for PC gamers by removing dedicated servers. Call of Duty just doesn't look like the game it once was.

Step in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, it looks like all the other Battlefield games but obviously with better graphics and better destruction physics. It's a nice little addition that was introduced as far as I know in the first Bad Company. BC2 is set to release March 2010... so I guess for now I'll be waiting around to see how the game develops and whether I'll be switching over to BF. But truth be told I doubt I'll be getting MW2 any time soon.

One of the new features of Modern Warfare 2 is an instant replay of match winning kills. It was a feature of Halo 3 and allows the fear of losing a match in a humiliating way very real and savable for all to see. I just never thought we'd see one of those videos so quickly.

I'm not one to post gameplay videos...but wow. Luckiest...shot...ever.

They're really freaking annoying on Xbox Live. I swear, they curse like sailors, make a symphony of irritating noises and call anyone and anything "gay" for apparently no reason.
Worse yet? They absolutely slaughter me in Modern Warfare 2. How ultimately humiliating. And, this is supposed to be fun.
