1. Syndromes and a Century (Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Thaïlande)
2.
Platform (Jia Zhang-ke, Hong Kong/Chine/Japon/France)
3.
Still Life (Jia Zhang-ke, Chine)
4.
Beau travail (Claire Denis, France)
5.
In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar-wai, Hong Kong)
6.
Tropical Malady (Apichatpong Weerasethakul, France/Thaïlande/Allemagne/Italie)
7.
La mort de Dante Lazarescu (Cristi Puiu, Roumanie)
Werckmeister Harmonies (Béla Tarr, Hongrie)
8.
Éloge de l'amour (Jean-Luc Godard, Suisse/ France)
9.
4 mois, 3 semaines et 2 jours (Cristian Mungiu, Roumanie)
10.
Lumière silencieuse (Carlos Reygadas, Mexico/France/Netherlands)

Albums (5/25)
1- Illinois, Sufjan Stevens
2- Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Wilco
3- Funeral, Arcade Fire
4- Kid A, Radiohead
5- The Wide Awake, It's Morning, Bright Eyes

Films (5/25)
1- City of God, Fernando Meirelles
2- Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, Jean-Pierre Jeunet
3- Almost Famous, Cameron Crowe
4- The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson
5- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Michel Gondry

Télévision (3/10)
1- Arrested Development, FOX
2- The Wire, HBO
3- The West Wing, NBC

"Mad World" is a song by the British band Tears for Fears. Written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith, it was the band's third single release and first chart hit, reaching #3 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1982. Two decades later, the song made a popular resurgence when it was covered in a much slower, ballad-like style by composers Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko. This version reached no.1 in the UK in December 2003. It was also later used in trailers for the video game Gears of War and the 2010 zombie film The Crazies.

I'm a sucker for a good Music Video (obvious by both of the music videos I did for the Idiot and Baddest Man Alive record on my Youtube) and this one takes the cake I'd love to redo something like this and I think its been enough time since this came out that it could work. Shot from an aerial view the concept is children on the street forming different shapes and as they move into each shape it then transitions into another one. Its hard to describe just check it out below! (PS On a random note Ive been gettin a lot of requests to do peoples videos based on the 2 videos I did, wierd. I psoted em below so check em out and shoot me an email if you want me to do a video for you too)

Check out his exceptional site. Neato portrait of the week slide show at the bottom hits the spot too.......Think it is so funny that he is selling out-dated calendars from 'The Science of Sleep' too. This guys is brilliant. Additionally, just found out that my friend Vincent Cauche attended a dinner party in Paris years ago where he was a guest and marveled at his energy and ability to "direct" the attention of the guests. I think he even said some magic was performed. Cool.

Zachary met Michel Gondry at a book signing this Spring in Chelsea at 192 Books  http://192books.com/ and while I was working and couldn't attend, I was still inspired by HIS visit.  Instead of sitting at a table and just signing the books or asking for people's names, he drew cartoons of everyone he spoke to.  Yeah, I know people do this, but this doodle of Zack is right on.  It really oozes his essence.  The book it's in is, You'll Like This Film Because You're In It: The Be Kind Rewind Protocol.  He also got a cool comic, We Lost the War, But Not the Battle.

So, I was looking at some of his stuff tonight on my favorite resource for inspiration and came across the video below.  I like Behind the Scenes with Michel Gondry because it really tells a story of an individual creative process and it's fun.  Check it out.  I think he is a brilliant filmmaker and creative talent.  It's weird that it sells something, but hey, don't we all.  I also think his Levi's commercial is super cool.
