As a special promotion, Strawberryway is able to offer a fantastic deal on Box.net for your business and throw in a free Dell Mini netbook.

If you’re not already familiar with Box.net then take a look at a previous post on the product. In a nutshell it’s simple sharing and collaboration.

Our promotion is for any business to sign up for Box.net Business for one year at a special price and receive a free Dell Mini.

The package:

  • Box.net Business – Advanced collaboration for project collaboration and workflow, version history, content search and discovery, mobile access, extensibility and API access
  • 10 user acccounts
  • 100GBs of storage
  • Live user training and support from Strawberryway and Box.net Inc
  • Dell Mini netbook

Normally all of the above for one year would cost £2,600 (not including the Dell Mini). For this promotion all of the above is priced only £1,000 giving a saving of £1,600. Plus there’s a free Dell Mini.

Note this offer is not just for new businesses but also for those wanting to upgrade from an existing personal Box.net account. It’s also worth noting that if you’re a “microbusiness” then do not be put off by the 10 user accounts as these could be used for your project collaborators throughout the year.

For more information on this promotion please get in touch and we’ll be happy to answer any queries.

Strawberryway offer strategic business process consultancy and design for web based applications, such as Box.net, in the enterprise.

So I posted a naive tweet this morning... As I attempted to surmise the above in to 140 characters it came out as a flippant tweet of "get free dell from me"

Result = my morning got destroyed by uber volume to tweets and emails with tweeps saying "me, me, me ooh pick me"

Not surprising and totally expected in hindsight.. Next time I have free stuff I a) won't tweet before the deal is up in full somewhere and b) won't tweet about it half awake c) won't tweet when I have enough to do that same day as it is ;)

Now off to sweep up the mess that is my GTD plan for today :p

By browsing the different teachers available on Chineseteachers.com I found out that one their teacher (named "Annie") is giving away free one to one chinese lesson for the whole month of november.  For that You only need $1 in your account to have lessons with her, and of course that $1 will not be deducted! She is the only teacher with the special promotion 'S'  red icon .

As you remember, I've already written a long post about Chineseteacher.com, I mentioned that even thought the service is really great (one to one Chinese lesson anywhere in the world at any hour of the day...or the night) it's still can be quite intimidating to have a lesson with someone we don't really know, that's psychological and we cannot do much things about this (at least for now, that's mainly why Loic Le Meur switched its product, Seesmic, from video conversation to a tool that would instead aggregate content from other social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook).

If you are not totally sure about the fact that a one to one lesson through internet is an easy thing for you, you should try this offer and see.

Note : This is not a sponsored post (but they are indeed friends of mine :) )

Tracking Emails.

Here is something everyone should read and act accordingly. If you don't, you're  hurting yourself and your email buddies.  Please read right to the bottom.

By now, I  suspect everyone is familiar with www.snopes.com  and/or  www..truthorfiction.com for determining  whether information received via email is just that: true/false  or fact/fiction. Both are  excellent sites.

Advice from Snopes.com Very Important!

1) Any time you see an E-Mail that says  forward this on to '10' (or however many) of your friends, sign  this petition, or you'll get bad luck, good luck, you'll see  something funny on your screen after you send it, or whatever,  it almost always has an E-Mail tracker program attached  that tracks the cookies and E-Mails of those folks you forward  to.

The host sender  is getting a copy each time it gets  forwarded and then is able to get lists of 'active' E-Mail  addresses to use in SPAM E-Mails, or sell to other spammers.  Even when you get emails that demand you send the email on  if you're not ashamed of God/Jesus ....that's  E-mail tracking and they're playing on our conscience.  These people don't care how they get your email addresses  - just as long as they get them. Also, emails that talk  about a missing child or a child with an incurable disease  -  "how would you feel if that was  your child"....E-mail Tracking!!!

Ignore them and  don't participate!

2) Almost all E-Mails  that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are  similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send  business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break  the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards. All it was,  and all any of this type of E-Mail is, is a way to get names  and 'cookie' tracking information for telemarketers  and spammers - - to validate active E-Mail accounts for  their own profitable purposes.

You can do  your friends and family members a GREAT favor by sending this  information to them; you will be providing a service to your  friends, and will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam  E-Mails in the future!

If you have been  sending out (FORWARDING) the above kinds of E-Mail, now you  know why you get so much SPAM!

Do yourself a  favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listings  regardless how inviting they might sound!...or make you feel  guilty if you don't!...it's all about getting email addresses  - nothing more!

You may think you are  supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT! Instead, you will be  getting tons of junk mail later and very possibly a virus  attached!  Plus, you are helping the spammers get rich!  Let's not make it easy for them!

Also: E-Mail petitions are  NOT acceptable to White House, Congress or any other  organization - i.e. social security, etc. To be acceptable, petitions must have a signed signature and full address of the  person signing the petition, so this is a waste of time and  you're just helping the Email  trackers.

AND MOST IMPORTANT:... don't forget...

Delete other people’s e-mail addresses on the e-mails you send out.

When forwarding/sending- send all as BCC:

You’ll notice that the only name up top is mine.   - If you forward it, please delete my name.

The Honda crotch rocket
rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph.

The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing themotorcycle.

The riders reaction time was not sufficientenough to avoid this accident.

The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them.

The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly.

This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department.
Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle owners
AND ESPECIALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A CELL PHONE!!!!!

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Wake up people , Stop talking on Cell phones and Texting while trying to drive. Put your Cell phone in the back seat !!!

Now do you see it?

This week, we have been learning members of the family in Spanish with my students and how to describe them. An activity that went well and is based from the excellent textbook Gente Joven is to ask questions about other families.

  1. Students write the names of 3 members of their family on a card. They go around the class with their cards and ask each other for each name on the card "¿Es tu madre/ padre/ abuelo...?" (Is he/she your mum/ dad/ grandad...?).
  2. Students then stay with a partner. The partner chooses one person from the other's card and ask different questions about this person:
    ¿Cuántos años tiene?
    ¿C
    ómo es?
    ¿Qu
    é le gusta?
Whilst asking those questions, they write the answers down.
  3. Students write a paragraph using their answers about their partner's member of the family. They memorize their paragraph. They go around the class telling each other about their partner's member of the family "Ellen tiene una hermana. Tiene trece años. Es rubia, alta y delgada. Tiene los ojos azules. Le gusta mucho leer y chatear con sus amigas pero no le gusta nada estudiar."

Students enjoyed finding out about other's families and telling the class about each other. It was also a good way to use verbs and expressions in the 3rd person a not only in the first person.

What about you? Have you used an engaging activity to teach family members in another language?
