You can keep your Hermès Birkins and suchlike - Susannah Hunter makes my favourite bags in the world, ever, bar nothing and nobody and no one. I first came across them in The Cross five or six years ago - there was a woman carrying one and I practically attacked her to ask her where it was from; not to sound completely mental or anything, but my breathing quickened so that I was pretty much PANTING WITH DESIRE. Over a bag. Yes, I know. But the bags are unbelievably sumptuous - the leather is like butter, the colours are jewel-like, the insides are thick velvet, the craftsmanship is impeccable and the appliquéd flowers are amazingly beautiful; plus there isn't an iota of bling or logo grossness.

The bags - they come in lots of different shapes and sizes but are all squishy - are put together with a painterly eye, especially when it comes to colour, which isn't very surprising as Susannah comes from a family of artists. The bummer is, they're not cheap. At all. Like, really not *sad face*. But *perks up* it's nearly Christmas. And they last forever and never date - I still get stopped and interrogated about my very first purchase from her. And they are made by hand, in the atelier behind the shop in Rugby Street, Bloomsbury, by a charming bunch of women who are properly paid and looked after. Look: it's the anti-sweatshop:

As well as the existing shop at 7 Rugby Street, WC1, a second shop is opening next month at 19 Connaught Street, W2; it'll stock leather-bound books and things like travel-card holders as well as the lovely bags (there's also a bespoke furniture range). The online shop is here. If you can't afford a bag, nip into the shop and buy a keyring: it may be small but it'll be so beautiful that it'll make you happy every time you see it.

I haggled and haggled. I haggled to the point of insult...standing with Mustapha in his Moroccan bizarre cum cafe with this beautiful cow skin bag in my hand. I intended to have my way. I managed to get my way....£25 sold to the girl with dogged determination and matching Hiaki boots.

This is Bella and Sophie - Our Maltese "girls" weighing in at 6 pounds and 4 pounds - tiny bodies but huge hearts! It's rare for them to look this nice. Five to six walks a day takes its toll in dirty paws, matted hair, and assorted pieces of bark and weeds stuck here and there. :-)  On this day, I got them right after the groomer finished bathing and clipping them. (They don't stay this white for very long!)  In an unusually quiet moment, I captured this image of them resting on our couch and actually both looking at the camera at the same time. Even with fill flash, the leather couch had picked up some distracting highlights and hot spots from the windows behind.  This is where Nikon's Capture NX2 came through to save the day. Their truly amazing U Point Technology allowed very localized and specific editing of just those few spots that needed to be toned down enough so they wouldn't detract from the "main attractions", here.  These "Color Control Points" provide for very precise control of color and light in very small spots or over the entire photo. Even though it's Nikon software, it will work with images from any camera so take a look.  They offer a trial version and give you 60 days to evaluate it - Try it - You'll like it!

This one's interesting. First of all, I'm glad it doesn't scream 'I'm French' (The French boys like pointy shoes, did you now konw?), and second of all, it's a little on the off-the-hot-oven i.e. new and not to mention, clean; much cleaner than the white girly transparent stump I wrote two posts back. So, in blue jeans, what does this say? I may be a little biased because I know who this pair of shoes belong to.

The shoe lace doesn't look like it goes beyond three or four holes on each side, which means this man likes to keep things short and simple, beginning with conversations (am I right, E?). Next, his shoes are obviously shined - this man is out on these bros to make a good impression.

Men who dare to match brown shoes with jeans are usually men who are suave and like to take chances, be it at work or at play. He's probably a player at heart, or maybe a player if he has no strings attached.

I'm watching Boston legal Season One again, currently on Episode #6. Fun.
