Temporary Position
The House Research Department, a nonpartisan legislative research office, serving the entire Minnesota House of Representatives, has two temporary legislative assistant positions available for the 2010 legislative session.
One position is temporary full-time (begins mid-Dec. - mid-May)
One position is temporary part-time (approximately 24-30 hrs per wk, begins late-Jan. - mid-May)
Duties include: Providing high quality support services and administrative assistance to Legislative Analysts; assisting with the data entry and technical production of bill drafts, amendments, and bill summaries.
Applicants must have excellent PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word 2007 suite. Ability to learn new software quickly, accuracy, excellent editing/proofing skills, and attention to detail are critical skills for this job. Typing speed 60 wpm. In addition to strong organizational skills, applicant must be a self-starter with a responsible work attitude and the ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines. Willingness to work with a team and ability to work under pressure are also essential. Some overtime required during legislative session.
Entry salary: $620.40 per week (up to 40 hours)
