Real life background: my partner woke me up and left my house to do a few errands. I fell asleep while he was gone and my dream was a continuation of what I would have been doing plus the added surrealism of dreams.

I looked at my stereo clock and instead of it not being set, it was keeping tabs on when my partner was going to return, like a reverse timer.

I woke up and went into the kitchen of the house I now live in. I opened the fridge and in it was a can of wakame soy beans. I was thrilled. I took the can out and it was some weird gourmet sort of thing - there were indentations on the can to tell me who the can had been prepared by - a Christopher. The can had a ring pull. I opened it and to my disappointment, the can was not full of lush edamame-type soy beans in their glistening pods, but dried lentils, yellow and green. I looked for a container to put them into.

As I was wrestling with my gourmet beans, my partner was fixing my father's computer and I was thrilled with him. We might have high-fived because fixing my father's computer is semi-naughty given my father doesn't want to admit there is an awful lot of shit on his computer (in real life). I then told him I would try reading 75 books next year, if 50 books this year wasn't too much of a challenge.

I exited the patio door. Outside were people, flashing massive post-it notes - messages to people. I had one from my friend Katie. It was a really sweet message. I shouted to the crowd that I was the person the message was intended for, but no one seemed impressed.

I headed back in, and me, my partner and my mother sat down on the sunroom couch to watch an episode of Felicity where two couples on the plane are seated next to each others' partners. A child dies on the plane and has to cremated, no funeral. His grandparents and parents are devastated.

I haven't had my Japanese food fix in what seemed like forever so I decided to go back to JOHN and YOKO!

Armed with a hungry stomach, a tongue craving for Japanese food, and my constant foodie companion, we traveled to Makati to get our fix.

JOHN and YOKO is located at GREENBELT 5 and we arrived in the area just after the evening mass at the Greenbelt Chapel. The place was a bit full but we got seated without waiting.

Blue Iced Tea, Dalandan Flavor P108 refillable

We ordered our drinks, Blue Iced Tea which is Dalandan flavored Iced Tea. They have it in Red, Blue, and Green. Red is Raspberry I think and Green Kalamansi?

We Found Nemo P799

We were going through the menu when this platter caught the eye of my foodie companion. The We Found Nemo Platter consists of 3 orders of sashimi: Maguro, Shake, Kani and 3 orders of maki rolls: Vegas, Philadelphia, and Dynamite. Like I said, we haven't had any Japanese food in a while so we went for it!

The Maguro and Shake Sashimi did not disappoint! These are the items that can really make or break a Japanese meal for me. The platter is served with a sweet soy which I liked. I think they added pickled ginger to it. The Kani Sashimi is ok.

The Philadelphia and Dynamite Rolls are good! The only roll that we didn't especially like with the platter is the Vegas Roll. It's a cucumber roll with Chicken and a lot of cheese on top, nothing special.

Cold Soba Salad P358

I was craving for my Cold Soba noodles so we ordered the Cold Soba Salad! We had this before and it's still as good as the last time I had it, though not as cold as I would like it to be.

The order consists of Kani, Cucumber, Tamago, Tempura batter, green onions, seaweed, and nori on top of a bed of Cold Soba noodles already in it's sauce.

Cold Soba Salad after mixing

Total bill was at P1, 471.07 inclusive of 8% SC.

We didn't get to finish everything on the table. I think we would have been full from the We Found Nemo Platter alone! I should remind myself not to be "takaw tingin" next time and always consider my budget.

It was worth the trip and the money but I will keep it under P1, 000 or less next time :)

Here's to good food, fine wine, and great company!

「ノギャル」藤田志穂さん、農業体験希望者募集-今月「シブヤ米」田植え

http://mainichi.jp/life/kirei/graph/20091012_2/1.jpg

These girls "change" the agriculture in Japan!! They start this because they want young people to know how import to keep agriculture in Japan by your people..They are "pioneers". Because of "change" of earth (global warming, bees dying, storm and etc), it is getting hard to grow crops / farm products like rice, wheat, fruits and etc And because of "change" of economy and family constructions, young people don't want to take over hard jobs like agriculture...Then, Young woman and Former CEO stood up and started to make a "change"...keep old and good things...

At first, they never grew anything as you see...they are fashion models but they didn't give up...learned from farmers and made it by theirselves.

Now, She sells their rice online...I think it is just for business but for seizing an opportunity for young and old people getting interesting in food and agriculture.
