Here are posterous posts filed under introduction...

I have been writing more and more these days. Everything I have written up until now is just sitting in neatly arranged Word documents on my hard drive, never to see the light of day. It's not that I am embarrassed about what is in there or that it isn't worth reading, it's just that the topics are all over the place and they didn't have a handy haven to live. So, I decided to create this site to get my poorly worded, grammatically incorrect musings out on to the web where you, reader who is either related to me or accidentally stumbled upon this, can enjoy them.

More often than not I'm going to try and provide entertaining posts based on my day-to-day life. Sometimes I'll post a piece of fiction that I wrote; or an off the wall humor piece; or maybe just an observation. But, you will most likely be reading things that just happened to me or that have happened in the very recent past. If there is a picture that I've snapped or a video that I took, it will also find its way onto here as well.

Knowing that I could very well (read: definitely) lose interest in this over the course of a few weeks, I am not going to stick to any kind of publishing schedule. When I think something is worth writing and posting, that is when you will see it. For your sake, though, I won't try and force anything that I don't think is worth reading.

Still with me? I'm proud of you. Now, take my hand and let's enjoy my dull, boring and uninspiring life together.

I have decided to create a professional blog. Phew. *wipes sweat*

That last sentence took a lot of designing, chopping, coding, and platform research. I chose the wonderful posterous as my platform. No solid reason other than the connections to social media and easy posting by email.

My plans for content types in the informative/rant/tutorial forms are:

  • Python, PHP, Javascript programming languages
  • MySQL, MSSQL database
  • Linux/Windows
  • Other Geeky Stuff found worthy.

Check out the awesome people I have linked in the Link Love section!

Dave Bowers says...

Hi! I'm David Bowers (aka Lancebastion online). If you know me, skip this post. No new info here. If you don't here's some background...

Having moved  out of the @houseoftrouser to the US in May I have decided to chart my adventures overseas. This blog will contain videos, photos and tails of the (often strange) country that is America. Arlington, MA (I type MA because I can't spell Massachusetts) is my nnew home, a suburb of Boston and is a semi dry town. That's right. No pubs. Quite a change to my previous home of Wolvercote, Oxford, which had 4 pubs for a population of a couple of thousand.

I studied Electronic Imaging and Media Communication in Bradford back in 2003 and you can find some videos on my YouTube Channel, you can also find me on twitter and facebook. I now work in digital marketing for Focal Press, if you're interested in any area of media technology check out their books. I'm also a top 1000 Amazon.co.uk reviewer and aim to hit the .com reviews soon.
So, there's some background on me. Now let's discover America.

So I decided to drive to Africa for charity.

A few weeks ago a friend introduced me to this society.  And never before have I ever taken to a challenge like this one.

This is the Africa Rally:

Massive, ridiculously hot, covered in deserts and some of the wildest jungles in the world; Africa calls The Adventurists like a siren in the night. Come hither and do thyself a mischief, she says.

So really we only had one solution, to make the turn south and head into the fray in search of the sort of moments to tell our grandchildren about over and over again until they fear coming to visit us in our old people's home. Thus the Adventurists' Africa Rally was born.

They said the cars would never make it, they said the roads in monsoon season were impassable; they said this was the most ridiculous and stupid idea they'd ever heard of. But the twenty-eight brave teams that made it to Cameroon in the pioneering 2008 Africa Rally proved them wrong, and in the process of doing so raised vast amounts of cash for charity.

The 2009 rally is happening this Christmas.  I was offered a team position but, fortunately, I have sense to realise that wandering into the Sahara desert unprepared is suicide.

But.

I found the concept of driving a 1 litre left hand drive banger into Camaroon compelling, especially after watching the endeavours of others.

So.

I’m going to try in Christmas 2010.

The first step is getting on the official books; the next step is to get a suitable car and start the marketing machine.  Oh, and plan a route.

I’ve started a blog which I have vowed to only update with interesting news over the year.

Any goons in the Reading or London area that want to get in touch, help out, travel with or stand and laugh and point out the numerous comical ways I will die please feel free to contact me.

Hey all, my name is Michael Moore-Jones and I'm 15. I'm currently living in Madrid, Spain, but am returning home to Wellington in December.

I am absolutely passionate about technology, social media, and business. There are no doubts in my mind that I will be working in a combination of these fields when I graduate. However, I figure why wait to work on what I am passionate about?

I've been writing for about a year, with articles published in the Dominion Post and the NZ Herald. I also write monthly for Tearaway, a Kiwi Youth Magazine, and Etch, a lifestyle and business magazine. Most recently I was accepted as a writer for Technorati, covering the technology and business sections.

I aim to be covering a range of topics for SMNZ. Obviously social media will be primary, however I will be writing on the topic with views and thoughts of how it relates to business. Given my age, I am perfectly positioned to give businesses aiming to capture the teenage market insight into how to go about this.

Other topics I will be covering are the New Zealand mobile market - Telecom, Vodafone, and 2Degrees. I will cover both handsets and pricing.

Thanks very much, and do not hesitate to contact me for ANY reason! I look forward to reading all your comments.

You can email me at moorejones.michael@gmail.com, or follow me on Twitter @mmoorejones

We've launched our first product video over on the website and thought we would also share it here.  This is meant to be a brief, highlevel introduction to HiveMind and the problem that it's trying to solve.  Comments and feedback are welcome.

Hey everyone, and welcome to Blogging Matt, my personal blog. Before we get into the swing of things, let me tell you a little about myself.

My name is Matt. I'm just your typical guy that's into Walt Disney World (I even have a blog about this), design, photography, technology, creativity, social media, music, simplicity, and living life to it's fullest. Here is where I will be posting my thoughts about all these hobbies and more - whether it be in the form of a post, a link to something, a picture, a quote, or something else, I'm going to share stuff I'm thinking about and stuff I find interesting. Think of this as my online journal.

Also, I'm going through a life change. There is a lot of "junk" lately in my life that needs clearing out - so in other words, the next post or two might be about that. And I won't get into all that just yet.

So I hope you enjoy this new blog - since I'm starting a new chapter of my life, I figured I might as well start a new blog to go with it. Feel free to comment to say hi, congragulate me, yell at me, or any other reason. I'm ready for it all. On a side not, you can find me on Twitter, too.

See ya' at the next post!

I am a technology enthusiast, but my use of computers, gadgets, cellphones, software, websites and network connections is often a struggle.

Modern digital technology promises ease, comfort, amusement, satisfaction, efficiency, quality and even wisdom. A world without Email, Facebook, ipods, ATMs, DVDs and digital cameras would be drab and inconvenient, but in terms of expectation our grasp exceeds our reach. Our disappointment is punctuated with lost weekends, stress, malfunctioning stuff, backache, carpal tunnel syndrome, ADHD, information overload, increasing obesity, no work life balance, no privacy, no future careers and no real human contact.

Manpushbyte is a nod to the film 'Man Push Cart' about a stoic Pakistani immigrant struggling to survive in New York. This film was based on 'The Myth of Sisyphus', in which Camus describes the fate of a man condemned for eternity to drag a bolder up a hill in order to see it roll down.

It seems to me that we drag our bits and bytes with us in the same way as Sisyphus and the Pakistani immigrant barista carried around their respective burdens.
