A Bit About Mental Health
My friend, Jennifer's Facebook status yesterday read as follows:
"The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you." ~ Rita Mae Brown
This is certainly something to consider.
My first response was "No worry ... all of my friends are totally insane."
Then, after a moment of reflection, I was reminded of a run-in I once had, and I was inspired to share it. So, this was my next response:
"Oh, wait ... there was that time the doctor suspicion me of delusions of grandeur. It was hard to imagine that somebody would accuse me of being less than perfect. I mean, arrogance would be a flaw, so this was clearly not possible. I was so shaken that I decided to stoop to the doctor's level and spend my valuable time to explain that it was *recognition* of grandeur that he had confused with delusions of grandeur.
Plus, just because I had to cover all of the mirrors in my house didn't mean I was conceited. It was simply that with all of the mirrors around, I found it hard to ever get anything done. Put up a photo of me and you will see what I mean ... it is like a huge magnet!
Anyway ... that was as close as I came to any mental episode. I was fortunate to get that all cleared up."
You know, come to think of it ... I am pretty sure that Narcissus fella actually saw me in the reflection when he drowned.
So, there you have it ... In case you ever wondered. Mark is totally in the clear. What about you?
