I just found out Betty Crocker isn't/wasn't a real person.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

What Would Google Do?

Do people think anymore? My apartment's fire alarm is a lady saying "there is a fire in the building, evacuate," and then a very low pitched "beep, beep, beep." When the alarm went off at 3:45AM, my roommates and I would have been dead if there was really a fire.

You may have heard the song "Fireflies" by Owl City. I love the song because it is so uniquely romantic in that it doesn't actually mention human-to-human love, but the romance is burning with every sound.

Insult: A clerk asked to see my ID when I bought an "M" (17+) rated video game. I'm twenty.

I found an alternative to caffiene. It works as well, but instead of being addictive in the long run, it's addictive in the short run. It is Resident Evil 4; the video game I was IDed for buying.

One of the hardest things for me to do is ask people to do something for free.

I'm definitely buying this for my sisters and I to play over Thanksgiving break.

"Mad World" is a song by the British band Tears for Fears. Written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith, it was the band's third single release and first chart hit, reaching #3 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1982. Two decades later, the song made a popular resurgence when it was covered in a much slower, ballad-like style by composers Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko. This version reached no.1 in the UK in December 2003. It was also later used in trailers for the video game Gears of War and the 2010 zombie film The Crazies.

I'm a sucker for a good Music Video (obvious by both of the music videos I did for the Idiot and Baddest Man Alive record on my Youtube) and this one takes the cake I'd love to redo something like this and I think its been enough time since this came out that it could work. Shot from an aerial view the concept is children on the street forming different shapes and as they move into each shape it then transitions into another one. Its hard to describe just check it out below! (PS On a random note Ive been gettin a lot of requests to do peoples videos based on the 2 videos I did, wierd. I psoted em below so check em out and shoot me an email if you want me to do a video for you too)

  • If anyone wants to know the true definition of a producer this is a clear example.
  • Producing is more than just making music its taking a song from demo to completion then to the next level.
  • Its also about seeing the potential when the obvious signs tell you that there is none.

The two files below are a perfect example; The first mp3 is the original version of "Idiot" (if your curious it took about a month and a half and was Produced between 3 cities Tampa, San Antonio & Los Angeles to get to the final version.)

After I heard the demo of the rough demo of the 1st verse and hook of the song I put together a reference track and sent it to the artist with the full direction on how the song should sound once its completed. I wanted to combine the live drum elements of rock and the hard hitting elements of hip hop. Most attempts by hiphopers to try to crossover and sing Rock songs don't end well. More importantly, I wanted this song to sound as authentic as possible (Coming fresh off of a 2 year hiatus from music period, this was actually the first song produced since 2006. Funny story; (real quick I promise) the artist actually called me for 2 years str8 before I eventually answered and I just said you know what lets do this. I said if we're going to do this its got to be something different. Being in Texas afforded me the opportunity to both hide from the recession and also to get influenced by a lot of other genres I never listened to when I lived in Florida. But I digress lets get back into the production side here)

I had him record the first then the 2nd verse of the song this was done to a bare track with just drums and a basic idea of what I wanted the guitars to sound like (The fancy synths bass etc you hear at the end wasn't added until after all the vocals were recorded and I used some of the leftover adlibs (Na Na Na) to write the bridge). I also snuck a couple takes of myself singing it real low to thicken it up. Then I took my favorite line of the song "I told my girl that I cheated" and moved it to the end of the song and added the "sorry momma but I'm hitting the block tonight" at the end to complete the phrase. Then I went crazy with the synths, there were actually a lot more but I kno people get confused and I didn't want to throw too much out there. After spending a month with it I still felt like it had room to grow and with 100Akres' experience in these kind of projects I knew he was the man for the job. After he spent another 2 weeks with the song, He recommended we make some changes and added live bass and enlisted Craig Banks and Dale Jennings as the studio musicians on bass & lead guitar. Finally when we finished and looked back we were like "HOLY SHIT I THINK WE GOT SOME THING."

Special Thanks to Grammy Winning Mix Engineer Neal Pogue who did a phenomenal job on the mix and was always willing to lend his ear and offer feedback and words of advice on this project.
