Usually the post office ranks right above the DMV as the least exciting place on earth, but imagine the joy you could offer to your fellow frustrated shippers with the gift of bacon, no skillet or greasy fingers required. That’s right, bacon lovers, crankiness at the post office could be a thing of the past if everyone stocked up on bacon-flavored envelopes. J&D’s sells a pack of 25 for only $6.99 and also features a wide variety of other bacon-flavored goodies like Bacon Lip Balm and Bacon Popcorn.

Hmm, now if only the DMV could create bacon-flavored driver licenses.

The anatomy of determination

Posted Nov 4th, 2009 at 11:09 PM and seen 147 times

Paul Graham of Y Combinator published a great explanation the most important quality of an entrepreneur: “The Anatomy of Determination.” Here’s a quote from the post.

So here in sum is how determination seems to work: it consists of willfulness balanced with discipline, aimed by ambition. And fortunately at least two of these three qualities can be cultivated. You may be able to increase your strength of will somewhat; you can definitely learn self-discipline; and almost everyone is practically malnourished when it comes to ambition.

If you think you’re an entrepreneur, you owe it to yourself, yourself, your family, your employees, your imvestors, and your customers to read this.

More help for Entrepreneurs.

More news and tips about Twitter here.

*****

Rutgers University professors Mor Naaman and Jeffrey Boase examined 3,000 tweets and determined that 80% of Twitter users are "meformers" or people who express their feelings, thoughts, and statuses. The other 20% are "informers" who are sharing links and non-personal information. Also, informers tended to have more followers than meformers though meformers are not necessarily self-indulgent but are using their type of messages to maintain social ties. (Found via Mashable)

More on sex here and here.
*****

According to psychologists Cindy Meston and David Buss, women have 237 reasons for having sex. They figured this out by interviewing 1,006 women around the world and wrote about their findings in a book called Why Women Have Sex.

Why has no one asked women this question before? Meston says, "People just assumed the answer was obvious, to feel good. Nobody has really talked about how women can use sex for all sorts of resources." Their main reason was "orgasm, orgasm, orgasm."

Read about their book and the study here. There's no indication if Meston and Buss will be asking  men the same question and writing a book. It would probably be too short to publish...

I'm not too thrilled that they killed this gator, but his size is remarkable.
