Why does a new day start in the middle of the night?

I love the idea that monsters are usually these completely beautiful creatures underneath their disgusting skin. I find such comfort in that a monster can be more beautiful than many beautiful looking people in the world.

Green Giant "Simply Steam in the Bag" frozen vegetables save my life.

I hope laughter happens in Heaven.

Sometimes I don't want to be different.

I think that if every single person on Earth held hands together, Jesus would come.

It kills me that many of us are so affraid to become emotionally attached to others that we get creeped out when someone compliments us or something.

I saw this somewhere: Let's eat Grandpa! Let's eat, Grandpa. Commas save lives.

My favorite Christmas commercial of all time:

The human heart is deceitful above all else. If you ask the average person on the street they'll likely tell you they're on their way to Heaven. Below is an excerpt from a terrific sermon in a series on Heaven by Ted Donnelly where he succinctly responds to such a belief:

There’s an almost universal idea that we can deserve Heaven. That’s what people think. It’s right for them to go to Heaven. They’re worthy of going to Heaven. That’s what all other religions are based on. That is the hope of the man or woman on the street. My friends, one glimpse of Heaven; one millisecond of Heaven; would render any such notion absolutely preposterous. If we could see for a fraction of a second, the glory of Heaven, we would realise our utter incapacity, and unworthiness, and inability, of ever reaching or being present in that place. Sooner could a worm aspire to be a brain surgeon, than a sinner, hope to work their own passage to glory.

May we never lose sight of the glory of Heaven and the inexpressible grace of God in securing the way for sinners to be redeemed!

"As soon as somebody tells you who God is - mistrust them!"

True.

I, for one, don't believe in religion. Because it is man-made. God? Well, I simply don't know. What I do know for sure is that nobody can tell me what he/she/it is like.

This is the trailer for the documentary "Oh My God". The film asks many different people, from all over the world, “what is God?”. With most different thought-provoking results. Should be interesting to watch once it's out.

Until then, watch Bill Maher's "Religulous", if you haven't already seen it!

Duality Is Alive And Well In Victoria
One of the best things about making tourism adverts is the chance to let pretty pictures lead, something art directors are wont to do. According to The Inspiration Room, the ad above from Publicis Mojo positions Daylesford (in the state of Victoria) as a village perched on the edge of decadence and purity. The spot features Melbourne-born actress Isabel Lucas. Music is "Down to the River To Pray", sung by Paris Wells and supported by the Brunswick Women's Choir.

Aaron Sauer says...

A Puritan Prayer from The Valley of Vision:

O MY LORD,
May I arrive where means of grace cease
    and I need no more to fast, pray, weep, watch,
    be tempted, attend preaching and sacrament;
    where nothing defiles,
    where is no grief, sorrow, sin, death, separation, tears,
         pale face, languid body, aching joints, feeble infancy,
         decrepit age, peccant humours, pining sickness,
         griping fears, consuming cares;
    where is personal completeness;
    where the more perfect the sight the more beautiful the object,
         the more perfect the appetite the sweeter the food,
         the more musical the ear the more pleasant the melody,
         the more complete the soul the more happy its joys,
    where is full knowledge of thee.

Here I am an ant, and as I view a nest of ants
    so dost thou view me and my fellow-creatures;

But as an ant knows not me, my nature, my thoughts,
    so here I cannot know thee clearly.

But there I shall be near thee,
    dwell with my family,
    stand in thy presence chamber,
    be an heir of thy kingdom,
         as the spouse of Christ,
         as a member of his body,
         one with him who is with thee,
    and exercise all my powers of body and soul
         in the enjoyment of thee.

As praise in the mouth of thy saints is comely,
    so teach me to exercise this divine gift,
    when I pray, read, hear, see, do,
    in the presence of people and of my enemies,
    as I hope to praise thee eternally hereafter.
