Last week was an excellent week of training, best I have had for some time. I should have known that it couldn't last. Saturday my stomach started hurting and Saturday night I got sick. I shouldn't have snacked in the afternoon while watching football. I think all of the junk that I ate, that I am not use to, hit my stomach wrong. I won't do that again for quite awhile.

I seem to have recovered mostly, my stomach hurts every once in a while but not all of the time. I was able to run just fine yesterday, but when I finished it started hurting again. I really don't know what the deal is, I am thinking I might have pulled a stomach muscle when I got sick Saturday night.

Well, the good thing is I have been able to continue training. Hope I have as good a training week this week as I did last.

Just Keep Moving!

Running this half marathon was a spontaneous decision since I hadn't trained for it. My running buddies and I ran it as a "training" run for a half marathon in January. The route along the Pacific Coast Highway was gorgeous - can't beat running along the ocean - and the day was spectacular.  I finished in just under 3 hours which surprised me considering I hadn't run more than 7 miles in the last few months. I truly appreciate my friends who support and encourage me through my aches and pains and self-doubts!

I also posted audio tweets along the way at http://www.utterli.com/DeniseWakeman/

And I called in a quick report to Shirley Jahad at KPCC since they were one of the race sponsors.

I started increasing my miles a couple of weeks ago to work up to a half marathon on Dec 31st. It's not really going that well. I did 50 minutes on Tue, and I didn't feel that great, although I could have gone a little farther.

I have succeeded in doing this for the last five (I think) years, so I can't blow it this year.
