John Moulder - Bifröst

Health is not valued till sickness comes.- Dr. Thomas Fuller
OK, so in April 2008 I get the notion that I wanted to learn how to play
guitar. The logic being that it would make me a better musician and
ultimately a better bass player. So I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Elitist
and a Peavey amp and started lessons. Again, I started taking guitar
lessons from a local jazz guitarist named Jeff Sherman, which I believe
actually gave some lessons to John Goldsby, but I could be mistaken.
Anyway, this leads to Jazz Lab #3, but this time on guitar. This turned out
to be the most frightening night of my musical career as this was going to
be my first improvised solo in public. Anyway, here is the results,
Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock. Anyway, I play the melody on the head and take the 2nd solo, each solo was 2x through the form.
I guess I'd been playing for about 2 years, got together with a couple guys from high school. Anyway, we never made it out of the garage stage as we could never find a proper singer but here is a sample of what we were doing, we recorded this at one of our practices. Please excuse the programmed drums and awful bass playing.
Stefan Rademacher lays down some sweet bass.
