Willie on the Wall
I wonder if a blog is nothing other than polite graffiti. This Willie Nelson
drawing is in a Nashville alley outside the Hampton Inn on 6th, south of
Broadway. I don't really know if this is graffiti anyway. My idea of
graffiti is something intended to deface something else, change it, put your
mark on it. My blog is not intended to deface the world wide web, but it
does put my mark on it. So far I've found no evidence that my mark on the
web has been noticed, but if a tree falls...you know, if I write it, if my
words are as permanent as electrons stored on metal oxide can be, is the web
changed..defaced, a bearer of my mark...it is funny, as the Psalms say,
'dust unto dust', we are temporary, transitory...the web is as immediate as
anything can be, I dash off some words and they appear before millions if
not billions of people...but those words can be gone just as fast..or, like
anything on Google, never removed...there are copies of everying..
photos that I thought were long gone...intentionally deleted..but they live
on in there and out there...this picture of Willie Nelson is now just like
that...that alley wall in Nashville may crumble, but this photo will just
exist...turning this 'installation' into something else.
