Its been a while since I have played at Nation. This is the venue that I spent most weekends in the mid 90's playing for super-club / brand, CREAM. Great line up for this one...

I've played quite a few times (Summer Session / The Rave Set) for the organisers of these continuing events based on the UK's South Coast (headed up by outofthevoid.co.uk and Brap FM). This Saturday I'll be heading down to Bristol and alongside Mr Minimax and deadman dj, we'll be bringing 2 hours of quality selected darkfloor beats and bass to close room 2.

If you're in the area, or even if you aren't, do try and come down. All proceeds are going to charity (so far they've raised over £2000). It's always a great party, with a fun and relaxed vibe. Hope to see you there.

I recently had the good fortune to see a Danish group called Efterklang, performing at the Barbican. Went on something of a whim really - it was the first I'd ever heard of them, but saw a Time Out recommendation and thought it worth a punt.

Well, I'm very glad I went. Joined by a full orchestra, they performed their album Parades in full, and it was genuine hairs-on-end stuff. They strike me as a bit of a cross between Sigur Ros and something poppier - Architecture in Helsinki, perhaps.

Here's my favourite piece, Cutting Ice to Snow, performed with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. Definitely deserves headphones. It's the sound of pure joy.

Went to see Datarock at the Relentless Garage last night. They're great fun to watch - one of the most brilliantly exuberant bands I've seen. Star-jumping, tracksuit-wearing lunacy and damn fine tunes to boot.

Having said that, I'm not sure about some of the material from their second album - it's just not quite up to the standard of their debut. Still, they had the crowd dancing by the third song, fun was had, and now I'm a bit broken.

One of those bands where you can't understand how they're not more popular. Track of the night? Hmm. Probably Fa-Fa-Fa. I'm partial to a bit of Bulldozer too. Any band that can put out a genuinely good song about a "night flight to Uranus" deserves more fans, does it not?
