This film looks fantastic. I will be lining up to see this. By the way, if men aged like George Clooney the world would be a better place.

Good Night, And Good Luck. looks at the early years of television and journalism principles; specifically the on-air clash in the 1950's between Edward R. Murrow of CBS and Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin. With an outstanding cast, including McCarthy himself through archival footage, this film comes alive with intense emotion while depicting the historical See It Now shows and...  http://www.dainsmoviereviews.com/2009/09/good-night-and-good-luck-movie-review.html

If you'd have asked me when I was 20 if I'd ever give up my partying ways, I'd probably have said 'Yah, when I'm dead!'  Well, flash forward, I'm not dead, but I have 2 parties this weekend and the thought of 1 is more than enough thank you very much. The first one, on Friday, is for a friend who IS dead, it's a celebration of her life. I think it will be lovely, and enough time has passed since she died that I don't think it will be too sad. Then, on Saturday, about an hour away, another friend is celebrating a particular milestone. I am so over celebrating birthdays, don't get me wrong, give me the gift, but let's just move on after that. When I reach my next milestone I am going to have to make it very, very clear  that I DO NOT want any type of celebration. I mean really, what did I accomplish? I survived, I don't think that's necessarily something to celebrate - well, you should celebrate life every day, don't die and have people do it for you a year after  you're dead, and I do not mean any disrespect to my dead friend, but most of us forget to celebrate every day, life is a gift, a precious gift, and some gifts are better than others, but you should never look a gift horse in the mouth, although you should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, that goes without saying, other than that, it's all good because every cloud has a silver lining, right?

I am going to the party on Saturday with another friend who has the same aversion to parties, we've already come up with our escape plan. It's not because we don't adore the guest of honour, it's because we abhor parties. The birthday girl would realize how much we love her if she knew how much we hate parties. I think she does, sorta-kinda, but you never think it applies to you do you? Well, trust me, if someone says they hate parties, they probably hate yours too. So if they show up they must love you an awful lot or, you are giving away great gift bags, or George Clooney or Johnny Depp will be there, or nope, cannot think of another thing - so if you're not giving out gift bags and George and/or Johnny won't be there, you are so loved!

The other thing about parties on weekends is that it throws off the whole hair washing schedule. I'm going to have to do that tomorrow  and I don't like getting my hair wet on weeknights. But if you are going to go to a party, you should try to look your best even if George or Johnny won't be there. And then there's the gift, well, I only have to get one gift for obvious reasons, but I have absolutely no idea what to get this friend, and I don't have a lot of time to figure it out. The unfortunate thing is geographically speaking, the choices are limited. I am going to have to get something on the way to or from work. There is nothing around my office, and the mall near my house doesn't have one store I can imagine having anything she would like. So that sucks because it is a milestone after all. I'll just have to wing it and hope that when my birthday comes around in a few weeks, which I hope will slip by with a silent nod and a bagful of gifts, my friends put more thought into what they get for me - I don't know any Greeks off hand and I will avoid horses of all varieties until June.

Well, sorry about the self indulgent rambling...I'll go play some online poker and try to forget my damn check engine light came on again - Happy Earth Day!
