My incredible friends put on a fab show tonight and I am now home looking at my extremely amateur photos thinking about how proud I am and what an amazing effort they put in. I'm also thinking about the denim halter dress that I might negotiate for tomorrow if it hasn't sold tonight. I think I'd need a very special occasion and a spray tan to pull that dress off!

This is what they were raising money for:

The show was all about raising money for IOSIS Family Solutions, and agency in South Auckland helping families with limited resources and complex needs overcome obstacles to create a nurturing environment for children. The project we are raising money for is a safe-house for underage girls who were being victimised (or at risk of being victimised) by commercial sexual activity in New Zealand. The home, which was set up in 2004, provided both short-term emergency care and long-term rehabilitative care for up to 6 girls at a time and cared for over 30 girls before closing in 2008, not for lack of need, but for lack of human resources. Awhina Teina, meaning (Embrace Little Sister) will be re-launched in Early 2010, to fill this very important need in our city, and needs your help to put in place the best possible environment and care for these young women to help them reach their utmost potential.

I'm always impressed by people who make an effort to make a difference and in this case I've seen a little bit of how hard they've worked to make a memorable night for everyone who went (thanks for the cool goodie bags) and to raise money for IOSIS. Michelle Thompson, Ruth Perry and Katie Maree Cole - you are talented and wonderful women and I'm proud to know you. My model friends, you're gorgeous!
