Three tutorials that demonstrate the capabilities of Oracle Service Bus, in particular the functionality that isn't included in Oracle ESB:

  • Exposing a simple service: getting to know OSB basics such as Business and Proxy Services, and simple routing rules and transformation capabilities based on XQuery.
  • New adapters: getting to know the adapter support in OSB such as the e-mail adapter.

SOA Manifesto

Service orientation is a paradigm that frames what you do. Service-oriented
architecture (SOA) is a type of architecture that results from applying service
orientation. We have been applying service orientation to help organizations
consistently deliver sustainable business value, with increased agility and
cost effectiveness, in line with changing business needs.
Through our work we have come to prioritize:

Business value over technical strategy
Strategic goals over project-specific benefits
Intrinsic interoperability over custom integration
Shared services over specific-purpose implementations
Flexibility over optimization
Evolutionary refinement over pursuit of initial perfection

That is, while we value the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

It reminds me of the Surrealist Manifesto of 1924 and of course the great man Salvador Dali's Against/For list in particular.

Many people guess BizTalk and BizTalk Server are the same product. But that´s not correct because BizTalk describes all Services and Components by Microsoft to develop distributed systems, services and components. BizTalk Server is an Application Server which implements the Enterprise Service Bus Pattern to integrate systems, services and applications (e.g. Enterprise Application Integration EAI). BizTalk Server uses the BizTalk libraries to operate. Within the announcement of the Azure Platform Microsoft renamed BizTalk Services into .NET Services.
